Is it possible to force my PC to use GPU2 as the primary card for games/videos?

Thread Starter
Hi everyone, I am running 6950 crossfire and with its boxy design the airflow of the top GPU 1 is not very good, according to afterburner right now I'm watching a video at 2D clocks it is at 78 degrees whereas GPU 2 is idling at 41 degrees. I have great airflow in my case but it just can't get into the little gap in between the cards.

Is there anything I can do to set GPU 2 as the primary card to use for 3D applications? Any advice is appreciated, thanks

i had a 8800 gt a few years ago, used to heat up one end of the house, and i just thought it was the extra performance, lol. turns out it was faulty, had to rma. not sure bout amd but if it was nvidia could dedicate it to physX, might be something in the control panel(or amd equivalent

i do not think that is possible - UNLESS..... if your motherboard has the option in the bios to switch GPU - then that way the crossfire will run the opposite... the bottom card would be the main display(ofcourse the monitor must be switched / plugged to the lower card)

but... like I said that is if your bios/mobo has the option... I had it on my previous mobo a gigabyte one.. don't remember the name of that option thing

Yeah, my Gigabyte board BIOS has an option that allows you to set which card is the primary card (i.e. PEG, PEG1, PCI, iGFX) [PEG = PCI-Express Graphics, PEG1 = slot 2, iGFX = iGPU].
