my money is on the cpu still being good yes. the psu is definitely one of those things you don't want to skimp on there are good quality psu's rated for low power budget builds, and there are sales all the time, just gotta watch for em.

that psu should work just fine. lemme know how things go for you

Thanks again for the help. The PSU and RAM were from Amazon, so I'll swap those first, since it'll only take a day or 2. Then I'll knoe if the mobo was shot, and if so I'll do my RMA through Newegg.

Seriously, thanks so much for the help.

I agree with the cpu being most likley fine, there is a lot of filtering and regulation componets on the motherboard that help clean up the power before it goes to the cpu.

The only time I ever really see dead cpu's is either DOA(very very rare), killed by overvolting too much during a suicide benching run, or killed by a motherboard vrm component blowing which doesn't look like it happened in this case.

Have you tried one stick of ram?

Biostar actually puts a lot of voltage through the ram by default, might wanna play with it. AKA set it lower so you don't cook the new set try to set it for what it's rated.

I cannot find where in the bios to change this. It's very obvious on my P5Q Pro, but here I simply do not see it.

It will most likely be in an advance settings area.

Overclock Navigator Engine. Set to manual overclock, that should allow you to change the ram voltage.

So I went to Best Buy this morning and grabbed a Corsair GS 600 and 4GB of Corsair DDR3 1600MHz memory. Checked the memory in the bios and it's at the correct voltage. Reset everything, and now the system is running again. I'll post again once it's remained stable for awhile, as both times previously the system ran fine for a few days, then **** the bed.

Are you overclocking? If so you'll have to lower the IGP clock a little.

Probably not going to OC this rig as it's for my girlfriend and I don't want her having to worry about those sorts of things she has no interest in, at least not yet. That and I couldn't get much help over on that forum with an OC on this board.

Well, the rig started to freeze with vertical green lines, so I can only assume the mobo is shot. Replacing that and starting fresh outside of my CPU, getting a different mobo with a separate GPU as I'm tired of this Biostar POS.
