i was wondering if i could place partial files on usb stick 1 and have the complete file on usb 2 in the proper folder and just switch back and forth when errors occur. i used to do windows 98 with 2 scratched CDs this way

Do a network install of Windows 7

Lots of time and effort involved though - it's so much easier going to your local tech store and spending $10 on a 4GB USD drive - or even $70 on an external DVD drive

You said "new" PC does this imply you have an old one you could perhaps borrow the drive from?
If you have an old HDD you could also use it.

no sata drives dvd roms around, HDDS yea that was my orginal idea but im going with USB install, just acquired a drive.
That's perfect then. One day i might try the network install just for a laugh.

I did a USB install anyway. Now microsoft have released that official tool for it it's much easier. and much faster than DVD.

Maybe windows 8 will be available on an official read-only USB stick...

I been thinking that all day. i cant wait for primitive ROMS to go the way of floppy drives. i havent had a cd rom installed for almost 4 years only borrowing one now and then to install windows. new board has no IDE capability though.

I don't have a CD drive either. I just boot/install anything I need over SD Card or USB drive.
