Computer was OFF this morning

Thread Starter
Hey All,

Woke up this morning and goto check my e-mail computer was off. Turn it on boot to windows within 5 minutes it shut off again. waiting a couple minutes turned it on failed to post CPU OVERHEAT WARNING.

I have the XSPC RASA kit with the 240 rad and the 5.25 bay res and pump combo this is less than a month and a half old and it has been working fine since I installed and bled it with no leaks. I have white tubing so I cannot see any air and I do here the pump run when on but see no movement in the res at all. I am little bumbed as if this pump has failed and at my first attempt at w/c, hopefully my CPU is OK.

Any Ideas, Whats the process to draining the system, I may go back to the rasa included hose.

Thanx,

Dave

Double check that the molex is connected good that seems like a big thing with pumps sence it only has 2 wires it tends to come unhooked.

Have you checked for kinks or blockages? My first thought was the pump but you said it's running.

Sometimes it's a good idea to have a flow-meter somewhere in your loop.

Happened to me. Computer kept on shutting off with this kit, and I kept on turning it on like an idiot. Finally I touched the block and it was burning hot.

Personlly I think your pump got clogged or stopped working (as in actually pumping the coolant instead of just the noise)

the easiest way to check it is to drain your system, which i don't really have a clue of with a rasa kit
i'd say dismount the 5,25 bay via the inside of your case, unscrew the fillport, get a bucket and let it drip!

After that refill the bay and turn the pump on.
Speaks for itself to see wether the pump works or not

Haha yea i had same thing happen with my mcp655 but it waset loose from molex the modular plug that powerd the line of molexs was loose and i kept shuting down with a cpu overheat error. Once you get air out the system you cant tell if the pumps on or not it seems lol.

Yes, I will try and drain it tonight and see if the pump is actually pumping coolant. I bled this thing for a full 24hrs prior to powering up the system the first time and I have had perfect temps since 35 no load 59 full load oc'd to 4200 on 24-7. What would clog the pump after a month of use.

rgds,

The most common things that block peoples blocks are:

Radiator Flux
Pre-mixed coolant fallout

If you forgot to flush the radiator before installing your loop little bits of flux and machining oils will come out of it and become trapped in your CPU block. Pre-mixed coolants such as Feser One or Primochill Fluid will degrade slowly over time, leaving gunk in your block that can eventually stop the flow of coolant altogether.

yes I used Feser One Blue fluid, BUT it is only a month old. I did flush the RAD if I recall.

So I think if I drain it and clean it flush everything and just get some distilled water and what can I pick up locally for silver there are no w/c stored locally for additives.

thanx,

Dave
