CPU/GPU Wc'ing in HAF-X - Help with parts.

[Updated]

Hey there,

This will be my first water-cooling setup and, therefore, i have spent a good deal of time (close to a month) researching the topic. Undoubtedly though there may be things i could improve on or change with my parts list, and that's why i have come to the wonderful world of Overclock.net!

Points
- I'm not on a strict budget, and do have some cash to play with, but like any 'sane' individual i don't want to waste money for the sake of it. If i have overdone things then please tell me .
- I don't want to case mod my HAF-X (I will remove the HDD bay, but that's easy).
- I'm not looking for extreme temperatues, and on the other hand amazingly quiet fans. Just a good water-cooling setup to cool my hardware with low-moderate noise.

The system is in the sig but for easier reading -

i7 920 @ around 4Ghz
6970's in CF
HAF-X

Now the first thing that pops into my head is "that's alot of heat". I estimate about 700W's (or even more!). However, while the HAF-X is a great case and good for watercooling, it does somewhat limit me to a top 360mm rad and a back 120mm rad. With fans that have sufficient CFM and static pressure i think i should just be fine. Again, i'm not looking for amazing temps, just good temperatures with a moderate amount of noise.

Anyway enough of the intro, here we go...

**********************************************
Swiftech MCP355

XSPC DDCRES 200ml Laing DDC Top Reservoir

XSPC RX120 Radiator

XSPC RX360 Radiator

EK Supreme HF - Full Nickel

2 x EK-FC6970 Acetal + Nickel

TFC Feser 1/4" Variable SLI VGA 1/2/3 Slot Pack

Bitspower Black 1/2 ID barbs.

Phobya Black hose clamp springs.

3 metres of XSPC 1/2" ID - 3/4" OD XSPC White Hose

4 x Gentle Typhoon 1850's

Some Distilled water and PT Nuke PHN.

**********************************************

From what i have read in my research, a 355 pump with a top is as good/better than the 655 pump in restrictive loops. Furthermore Gentle Typhoon's have great static pressure and pretty good noise levels.

Thank's for any help, i realise the post was quite long!

I would get a bit more hose than that, otherwise it looks good.

I've just been thinking about the EK bridge and it came to me that, since i have a P6T Deluxe, there is extra spaceing between my 1st and 2nd pci-e 16 slots.

Therefore i presume the DUAL parrallel bridge will be too small, and i'll need a EK-FC Bridge DUAL Parallel 3-Slot http://www.scan.co.uk/products/ek-fc...arallel-3-slot.

Have i got that right?

@amantonas - Thank's for reading, yeah i'll order an extra metre i think to be safe.

EDIT - According to this thread (http://www.overclock.net/water-cooli...do-i-need.html) neither will work. It was recommended to use something like this instead http://www.koolance.com/water-coolin...product_id=873.

Obviously one is parrallel and one is serial, but if both were serial is there ANY advantage with using the EK bridge over a simple connector like above?

Thanks!

What are people's opinions on one XSPC RX120 and one XSPC RX360 cooling an i7 and two 6970's in crossfire? It's not perfect but will it be good enough?

I really can't see any other option with a HAF-X.

Yeah, that's good enough, one RX360 could probably even handle it.

All that looks really good. Make sure to make it seckseh!

You should be good with the rad's I am going to be running my 2 5870's and my PII 1055T all of which are quite overclocked and overvolted on a MCR 320 which is not as good as the RX line. Just for reference I am at about 650W.

Woah really? That would be great as i can keep everything internal and smart.

As for looks I plan on doing a colour scheme of black, white and red.

- Black interior and black blocks.
- White tubing
- Red LED fans and red LED's in/on the res.
- Black/Red/White sleeving.

@eclipseaudio4 Thanks, that's also reassuring . Have fun with your build!

Can't order just yet but i'll keep this thread updated on my work

With push/pull, yeah. The 120 would help, there's a 120/140 fan mount on the HAF X isn't there? There's one on my 932, don't see why there wouldn't be.

Modding can always help. Always.

Yeah i plan on putting the 120mm rad in the normal exhaust fan spot, at the back of the case.

Heard stories about some 140mm rads not fitting and stopping the side panel shutting so i'll stick to 120mm.

I can't seem to find ANYONE with Gentle Typhoons 1850's in stock. Any other fan recommendations? For best cooling and not too loud?
