Xbox ist kaputz

Hey everybody,

So last night my Xbox of 6 years started making some odd noises. I asked her what was wrong but she didn't answer me. When i kept insisting what was wrong, she decided to spew green lines on my TV and went i shut her off and back on again... well she was... gone.

So out with the old and in with the new!

Got a couple questions for you all.

1) Are all the new "Slim" models of the Valhalla revision?
a) How can i make sure I'm getting a Valhalla when I'm in the store?

2) Is getting the 4GB model along with a 250GB HDD really worth the trouble or should i just buy the 250GB Slim? (The way i see it is i'm only saving about 40$)

3) I plan to use the Data Migration Kit from Microsoft to recover my data from my old HDD, any thing i should know anout this?

I think that's all for me, so any info would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Seabass

Well the one thing I forgot to mention is that i intend to install my favourite games onto the HDD itself. Would that be possible with an external and would it provide enough "oomph" so to speak?

You know you can just use a 2.5" HDD in the HDD unit, right? Google it.

All and any current slim Xbox's are Valhalla editions.
a)See above answer

2) Is getting the 4GB model along with a 250GB HDD really worth the trouble or should i just buy the 250GB Slim? (The way i see it is i'm only saving about 40$)
The savings may not be fantastic, but a savings nonetheless.
BUT, if you get a bundle that has games included, such as this Forza 3 and Alan Wake bundle.
You're actually getting a better deal than going the $199.99 4gb Slim Xbox version with a non-OEM 250GB HDD(+$42-$52), because of the two games included. At any rate, it all depends. If those two games included don't fit your fancy, take the savings to buy an additional controller, game, or 1 year gold membership of live.

3) I plan to use the Data Migration Kit from Microsoft to recover my data from my old HDD, any thing i should know anout this?

Unlike the previous models which required the migration disc to initiate data transfer, with the slim...it's simply plug and wait (provided you have the transfer cable) as the software is now integrated.

I think that's all for me, so any info would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Seabass

Wait, forgot to ask what size your previous HDD for your dead xbox is? If it's already 250 or substantial size, rip that puppy out of the case and insert it into the 4gb version. No data transfer needed.

thanks for the great info, +REP.

Unfortunately i only have a 20GB HDD so I'm really looking to upgrade to a 250GB. I think i may be out of luck though as it seems the entire city of Ottawa is sold out lmao
