Right i really need a new psu
it needs to be eventually able to power
6950CF
955BE
Crosshair IV formula Mobo
Blu Ray Drive
2 x 1TB hard disk
500gb ssd (not decided which one waiting for a price drop)
right but heres the problem, i just spent my savings an dont have much left i only had £400 to start with^^, point is i just got a 6850 a new HD and a 955BE, i plan getting a new power supply and case then selling my old parts to a friend of mine for £250 which will get me a mobo (Crosshair IV Formula) and 4-8GB ram.
my problem is my lack of money at this present time an the great need to power my new parts, so i am looking for a cheap 750w psu baring in mind i bought a cheap 750w psu from a pc shop (unbranded its that bad)
sooo i know i have £40 at home and my ante said she wanted to send me some money tomorrow which has come at a VERY LUCKY time especially because i dont normally get free money ^^
thanks OCN

You don't need more than a good 650W unit.
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/159920 is one of the best units on the market and an excellent deal.
If you must have a 750W for whatever reason, then http://www.ebuyer.com/product/241552 is a great deal, http://www.ebuyer.com/product/159921 is the step-up from the TP-650 I was just talking about above, but obviously more expensive. It has a sister version with a blue LED that's £3 cheaper: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/159923

The prevailing wisdom on power supplies is to "buy the best you can afford". I had a cheap store brand PSU in a desktop for about 5 months and in the long run it damaged some components and burned itself out. While I don't recommend going crazy and buying a Corsair AX or anything, I definitely wouldn't use an unbranded cheap psu in an expensive system.

The 6850 is a one PCIe connector card, right? It should do ok on a quality 550W if so.

Protip: Generic white box PSUs always explode between 200W and 400W, usually around 250-300W, regardless of what the label says.

Your first post said two 6950s, not 6850s, but a good 650W unit is more than enough either way You could easily downgrade to the Antec TruePower New TP-550 if you meant two 6850s.

His sig says that he has a 6950 , so I assume he meant CF 6950.
