help pick out radiator

Thread Starter
edit: Ive read through what everyone has had to say and have been looking around more on the internet. I want to rephrase my question.

Im looking for a dual 120mm rad. I want to know which radiator will acheive best results with 4 ap-15's in push pull.

some say the xspc rx series. some say black ice. ill be honest, im looking at the black ic gtx xtreme 240, but its 90 dollars and that is a bit out of my budget.

edit: also i need help picking barbs/tubing. my rasa kit came with 1/4" to 1/2"id barbs, but the tubing it came with is 7/16id tubing. so if i buy 1/2"id barbs with the rad should i get 1/2"id tubing or 7/16"id tubing? ive noticed the 7/16"id tubing that came with the kit is almost impossible to get off once installed.

Look at the xspc rx series radiator. They perform GREAT with the GT Ap15's and are priced nicely!

the swiftech mcp240's are really good. high quality too. but ive just received a Black Ice GT radiator i picked up cheap that looks very promising. also the EK radiators are meant to be really good although they are fairly thick

I wouldnt use the XSPC radiators. they have a very poor fin per inch count. only 8 fins per inch. thats why they are so cheap. but this will make them perform poorly. the Black ice GT's have 30 fins per inch which is far better. and i think off reference the Swiftech's have 25 fins per inch. the more fins you have per inch the greater the thermal transfer.

The amount of fins is not equal to the amount of performance. There are many variables such as fan speed rpms. The low fins like the rx will perform better with slow fan speeds which is what the GT AP-15 is.

The RX240 is a great rad, especially with AP-15's. I would look into that one.

i strongly disagree. i also wouldnt say that a GT AP-15 is a slow fan, 1800rpm and they move a lot of air. as far as radiator performance goes its simple. the more fins there are the greater the surface area and there for the greater transfer of heat to passing air. now. given that he is to use 4 GT AP-15's in a push/pull setup, he would benefit greatly from the higher surface area. he is not asking for a fairly good radiator, he is asking for a "top performing radiator" and that would be a radiator with higher fin count such as a Swiftech, Black ice GT or a EK radiator

The Phobya G Changer has also shown to be max half degree worse than the Rasa RX and it costs nearly half of the price!
