Need some UV assistance:)

Thread Starter

Hi guys!

I am about to buy some watercooling gear and need your advice on a very important matter.

Here the parts I picked :
https://www.aquatuning.at/shopping_c...31e8b4ad16ea5a
Maybe you can also give me some feedback about the parts I picked out .

I want my case to glow in a light strong blue...and have UV green tubes pop in it

The question is if I should UV dyed water or UV tubes.
So I have already read several threads of this kind but they all don´t seem to be closed with a proper solution.

Everbody just says don´t use dye it will cluster and kill your blocks ...it will stain and the effect will wear off after 3 months.

To make this thread more productive I will ask 4 specific questions that I hope will be answered properly by the pros here

1.)What has a better and stronger UV effect? UV tubing or UV dye?

2.)What combination of Lights (UV Black light cathodes, UV Leds, normal Cold cathodes, normal Leds, and colored UV colored UV cathodes) will make my system look like this?

a.)

00:44

b.) I think it is blue LED and Black UV cold cathodes what do you think?

3.)Is it a fact that UV dye causes mailfunction , stains, and clusters in waterblocks?

4.)What is the best lighting in general for UV reactive tubing and dye?
For example in my case ...Would green dye or tubing pop best with green UV cold cathodes? or just UV Black cathodes ? or even UV LED as they shine brighter ?(heard that from the guy that made a builf for his fiancee..but I can´t seem to find UV LEDs)

Please help me and answer these questions as eagerly as possible

thx in advance!!

yes the dyes will break down and cause blockages in your loop as well as stain everything!
Use colored UV tubing instead it will be brighter.
As for lighting, it is quite hard (unless the room is dark) to fully envelop the case in UV light as it is "weak"

yes dyed coolant can cause stains and clusters and all that IF your an idiot and buy cheap coolant mix or you just dont know what your doing. i think the best idea would be to use both clear UV Green tubing, as well as UV green coolant mix. i highly recommend Swiftech's HydroX coolant mix. it is UV green, and lasts for ages. been using it in my water loop for the last year and no, nothing is stained or clustered.

for that effect your after you really need to use a UV cold cathode neon rod light for the UV glow, and a few Blue neon rods for the blue lighting. remember that you cant see UV light, so even though you have blue neons in there over powering the purple color of the UV neon it will still react with the UV tubing and coolant.

First thank you both for your quick answers

Secondly ...many people told me that the only way of bringing out the UV green effect would be neutral UV Blacklight cold cathodes....Because my idea was to use Blue UV cathodes to make the case light up blue und still have the green tubes react with it ..but they said that would be wrong.

So what do you think did the guys in the videos I posted earlier use,Couldn´t it be LEDs rather than cathodes? as they shine a little brighter?
And I am very sorry but I don´t understand what neon rods are?
Oh yeah and do you think that the guys in the videos used dyed coolant? or could the same effect be achieved by just UV tubing?

At my retailer I have the option to choose between Normal Cold Cathodes in different colors, UV Cold Cathodes in different colors or just UV (I think the ones that have "UV"standing next to the color description are black light),LEDs
Here a link to what kinda lights I have acces to: http://www.aquatuning.at/index.php/language/en/cPath/51 it would be so great if you could create a shopping cart of the lights I require to make it look like in the above videos.

For tubing I want half inch transparent(clear) tubes ...the only ones available in clear UV with color are blue ...but hopefully you can also have a look at that
http://www.aquatuning.at/index.php/c...mm--1-2--.html

And lastly I would be very grateful if one or better the two of you pros could have a quick look at the watercooling setup I put together...maybe you will find something I should change or switch out with something better
It may be possible that when you have clicked the link you won´t see anything...just click the blue writing beneath "Your shopping cart contains of"
http://www.aquatuning.at/shopping_ca...31e8b4ad16ea5a

thanks guys you are great

wouldnt having uv colored tubing with uv color dye distort the color? why dont you just get clear, non-uv reactive tube, since you will have the uv reactive green coolant already?

You can't have UV anything light up if you're going to have regular lighting as well, I've been told. It's like glow-in-the-dark stickers in that sense. They only work in the absence of regular light.

You are much better off with UV tubes as dyes are pain in the butt!

I have heard so too..but obviously Kal777 is recommending a dye so it can´t be all wrong right?

Hmm again I have also heard multiple times that UV effect will be disturbed by other lighting than (uncolored) UV lights.
I hope he will explain....and also respond to my post #4 (very important that you get all the questions kal
