First timer

I have recently built a computer and this is my first time really messing with the inside. I had no idea what i was doing and It took me a long time just to get everything plugged in lol. I did this because I want to learn how to overclock really.

Thing is i have a 550 watt antec power supply and it has 4 or 5 6pin plugs on it and one 8pin plug. It only came with two coords for the 6 pin plugs so i have everything hooked up by molex>molex>molex and so on with some y splitters also to give me more molex plugs lol. It runs fine and everything even tho i tried the OC genie button last night that is on my MSI mother board and things got wierd when i opened the control center an alarm was going off! but ill deal with oc later i guess. its at 19c idleing btw with thermatake SpinQ CPU cooler on it.

I have a radeon 5850HD card and it has two six pin plugs that came with 2 6pin to two molex plugs(so i need to hook up 4 molex plugs for it) power coords. My question is can i use an 8pin plug that goes out to two 6pin plugs to plug directly from 8pin power supply plug into the 2 six pin plugs on my graphics card? makes sense to me but like I said I'm new and not sure if it has to be molex(those are the white 4 pin plugs called right? lol).

I know this wording sounds weird but I'm not sure how else to say it.

I have a Lanboy air case and ive seen pics of others and my case is a mess! theres wires everywhere! even tho i have some routed behind in the cable management thing theres molex plugs everywhere and i want to clean it up. I have 7 fans hooked up so not much can do with those i dont think.

I'm at work right now so I don't have all my comp specs in my profile yet, will do when i get home.

wow rereading this sounds like a ramble. Just like the wires in my case
This my first time and I'm clueless really

Thanks for any replies

this is the plug Im talking about

yes the molex plugs are being phased out but if you have an older power supply that does not have the correct pci-e power pins to plug into the video card the manufacturer sends the pci-e to molex connector cords, but it looks like you have the correct power supply that has the pci-e power for your video........cheers mate and welcome to OCN

P.S. 8pin add the extra two pins on the side or double six pin dont use the extra two on the side

I would get a second oppinion. I dont think you can power both 6 pin contacts of that 1 cable. that cable is i so you have a choice to either use the 8pin pci express or the 6 pin not both at the same time.
I may be wron but im pritty sure
