When is Bull dozer comming! - Page 8

If Intel hadn't been going around bribing and threatening OEM's like Dell and HP to not use AMD CPU's then Bulldozer would be out by now. AMD's lost so much money over the years because Intel keeps being anti-competitive and doesn't care about breaking laws that they simply don't have the resources to research new technologies as quickly as Intel now.

Balla, you keep changing cpus and sides all the time. Now your starting to sound like those i7 users you keep baiting in the SB threads who are sore because SB is better than 4 core 1366.

You can't imagine BD beeting SB because then your SB wouldn't look like such a good purchase maybe? just like you sold your 1090T?

I think you should have referred to your sig.

JF-AMD the hardware Representative for AMD stated this.

Pick any 2.

Want a processor 2X faster than Intel? We could do that. You couldn't afford it.

Want a processor that is $49 and only 25 watts? Sure, no problem. Until you want to play your games.

There are choices in this business, you have to shoot for the volume of the market because that is where you can drive the efficiency.
This statement (Which i didn't know existed prior to this post) states exactly what i have been saying since i started this thread.

Read above.

*In a fight typically you will want to hit somebody where you will inflict the most damage. Why would AMD focus so much time and money to take a couple bucks from intel in the high end market when they can probably inflict more damage in the larger more profitable low-mid range market?

If i were the CEO of AMD i would focus more on APU technology. As of now AMD/Intel are selling more chips for laptops then Desktops and Servers. Follow the money.

My example isnt stupid. If all i do i browse the web listen to some music and maybe work on a spread sheet or two i don't need quad-Sli Nvidia GTX 580's...

Maybe i should elaborate since you are so literal. I dont have a need to go over 65mph. My time isn't that valuable. Going fast only wears the tires quicker, Uses more gas, Destroys the engine quicker, Increases the chances of a fatal accident, And makes the ride uncomfortable. So i will buy what conforms to my needs.
You just proved my point many times, If AMD had the Money and Know-how they would make the best chip possible, in fact they do make the best chip they can. Which dosent even come close to Intels top chips.

Same as hyundai they would make a faster better car if they could but they can't, they don't have the money or knowledge(LOL comparing Hyundai to AMD) But its a stupid comparison because bugatti dident make that car to make money but too make the fastest car possible, and im pretty sure they lose money on them from what I have read.(Intel dont lose money on there chips) So I hope you can understand that AMD can't make a better chip then Intel, you explained it yourself.

I think Intel makes more money on the 980X and 970 then you think, there are alot of people with them out there, many buying more then one.

Thanks, Sir Overkill.

I'm sure if Intel broke laws, AMD would be the first to point it out and take legal action.

Just seems to me like Intel is much better at being competitive vs AMD.
Not to say AMD isn't good still. They are very good.

There have been several cases over intel and uncompetitive practices.

Any links to them?
I'd like to see them.

And they must not have been successful because Intel still dominates the majority of manufacturer pc's.

Dell had to pay $100m because of Intels bribe. (I believe)

(From wiki)
Quote:
New York started an investigation of Intel in January 2008 on whether the company violated antitrust laws in pricing and sales of its microprocessors.[110] In June 2008, the Federal Trade Commission also began an antitrust investigation of the case.[111] In December 2009 the FTC announced it would initiate an administrative proceeding against Intel in September 2010.[112][113][114][115]
In November 2009, following a two year investigation, New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo sued Intel, accusing them of bribery and coercion, claiming that Intel bribed computer makers to buy more of their chips than those of their rivals, and threatened to withdraw these payments if the computer makers were perceived as working too closely with its competitors. Intel has denied these claims.[116]
On July 22, 2010, Dell agreed to a settlement with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to pay $100M in penalties resulting from charges that Dell did not accurately disclose accounting information to investors. In particular, the SEC charged that from 2002 to 2006, Dell had an agreement with Intel to receive rebates in exchange for not using chips manufactured by Advanced Micro Devices. These substantial rebates were not disclosed to investors, but were used to help meet investor expectations regarding the company's financial performance; the SEC said that in the first quarter of 2007 they amounted to 70% of Dell's operating income. Dell eventually did adopt AMD as a secondary supplier in 2006, and Intel subsequently stopped their rebates, causing Dell's financial performance to fall.[117][118][119]
