$1k for parts...which route would go?

i7 980x ($1000) or i7 970 ($500) plus 3rd GTX 580 (Palit, also $500)

Let's hope I did the right thing.

If I could barely afford a GTX580 I'd still buy it over the 570.
I hate incomplete hardware.
I would have never bought the GTX480 even if I had the money.
The same way I hated my 8800GT and bought the GTS 512 back in the day.
Same way I bought this 285 over the 275 .. but thats just me

Tough choice since both are kinda overkill but I would think you would see more benefit from a 3rd 580 than a 980x. I'm currently considering adding another myself.

That's not what he saying. People who want the best buy the best no matter how big or small the performance increase is from the next in line. The kind of person that buys a GTX 580 understands that the increase from a GTX 570 is 10-20% and doesn't mind paying the premium. People who buy GTX 570's are looking for the best bang for the buck. Period.

i understand that, but lol @ him saying "Leave the elite(money tree owners) alone."

just because you buy a 570, doesn't mean you have less money than a person who buys a 580

"leave the elite alone".... get real bro

Never got the reasoning behind epeen and elitism.

Way I look at it: doesn't matter how massive your rig's peen is, there will always be another, countering your Ron Jeremy with a John Holmes.

Another thing I never got (and I'm not pointing fingers, so no eblasting me with ejism) people with fake rigs. You're only kidding yourself...meh...

yes i basicly bought this to have epeen at lan parties and with my freinds, im sure a GTX 570 would have been way more then i need but epeen is key.

i have $21.38 left in my bank/paypal accounts combined!
