help Transforming a FAT32 back to NTFS

Thread Starter
Now, I expose my problem:
My cousin and I successfully installed a MAC as a primary operating (OS X) Mac uses FAT32 right? It was more or less stable on a single core 1.6ghz if I recall. Now my father wants it back to PC after 6 months or so. My cousin, in the process of recovering it, tried to install and download boot camp. Then everything failed. We cannot boot anymore, and I am not able to format it from my PC since it does not seem to recognize it (but i can see it in the bios). So my question is basically, do you guys know a way to format the HDD back to NTFS so that we may install seven on it? The HDD is a 80gb IDE WD if that helps.

thx in advance

Use a live boot CD (any linux distro with Gparted) and you can reformat the drive as NTFS

That is strange. I have a 1 TB WD Caviar Green storage drive in my Windows 7 home rig right now that is FAT32. I have a Mac at my job and I used the Caviar Green as a external backup drive on the Mac. Since the Mac was the first computer to use the drive it was formatted as FAT32. I then installed it as an internal drive in my new rig and it has all my old files from the Mac at work.

Can you install the drive as a secondary drive in another computer? My home rig can access, format, partition etc. the Fat32 drive but I am not booting from the drive. It is only a storage drive.

Might have to "Initialize" it in Disk Management console in windows before you caneven access it or format it...

Otherwise just boot from any install CD and do it... you can format it during the windows install even.

Maybe because it's not a ''real'' mac that is in there, but just a false copy ''crack'' of one. I'm not that pro myself in computers so I dont know how to explain.

If you can't see the drive in "my computer" then go to Disk Management (right-click on "My Computer" and then select "Manage"--if it's shown in the bios, chances are it will show up in the "Disk Management" section--just right-click on volume for the drive and go through the format options.
