Q9550 on 1600FSB MB

Thread Starter
First of all I have no experience of overclocking, hence why I asking here and I not even sure I want I want would even count as overclocking, but its the same generall idea.

I have...
ASRock X48 Turbo Twins MB (1600FSB)
Corsair XMS DDR3 (1600FSB)
Intel Core 2 Q9550 2.83Ghz (1333FSB)

At moment my MB jumpers are currently configured to run at 1333FSB, in line with the processor specs

What I want to know is if its safe to run the MB at its full 1600FSB potential without damaging the processor?

If so what bios setting do I need to change to make it safe?

Secondly I not bothered about the processors actuall speed, I be happy to ramp it right back to 2.8Ghz or maybe up slightly to just 3Ghz max
I dont want to OC the CPU as such, but what my MB and memory to be operating at its optimum spec

Well running 1600 will put the the fsb at 400mhz and the cpu will be running 3400mhz easy for most q9550s you might have to up vcore and are you running a aftermarket cooler ?

I have a Water Cooler block on CPU
Will it be possible to ramp back the speed close to original speed? And would that even make any difference heat wise?

I was kinda thinking perhaps 400x7.5 for 3Ghz, and keeping volage at 1.25v
