GTX 470 Poor Crysis Performance - Page 8

Am I the only one who's noticed that your VCore in every screenshot is 1.55v or higher? AMD's spec is normally 1.55 at highest and you shouldn't need that much to hit a mere 3.7Ghz.

Even at 2.7Ghz you are at 1.58v in some of those... it may not help solve the problem at hand, but that seems way too high for those speeds and could be cooking up your chip.

Also, why not try and up your CPU-NB to help out with overall RAM performance?

Just run some normal benchmarks, 3d mark 11 on Performance settings with your card and chip I would guess you will hit between 3600-3900 on stock speeds and 4400 ish over clocked.
It could be so many things when you bench games that trying to blame it on GPU alone doesn't always fly so well.

I was playing crysis warhead last night on the train level, very high, 2xAA on 1080p rez. I was getting 25-30fps. My 460 is overclocked to 850mhz core, 2000mhz memory.

Also, run it in directx 9 mode, its faster than 10. Can't remember if you can do very high in crysis vanilla on dx9, but you can in warhead.

Crysis is a hog on gpu, always has been.

Interesting that you ask, it's rather subjective. I think it's an interesting feature but haven't tried without yet which I might

And you can't compare a Phenom II with an Athlon they are completely different CPU's , and PII do bottleneck but must likely on multi-GPU set ups.
Actually, it's quite the opposite. When crysis was released, there was a lot of complaining about how it was mostly gpu dependent

wow, that's actually quite alarming. I get 40fps with no AA and you are getting 45 with no AA on an 6870. Of course, my 570 isn't oc'd but even then, I would assume I'll be matching an oc 6870 at the minimum, something isn't right here

Edit: Just realized the 1000mhz core compared to my 730mhz, never mind carry on XD

Ud'e be suprised. the northern island's do very well in crysis.

I get virtually 100% scaling in crysis. no doubt my 6870's can keep up with GTX 570 sli.

Essentially take performance of a GTX 470 or 5850, and have them scale better. then u gt the 6870's. they can beat GTX 470 sli. and even tail right behind GTX 480 sli

hmm, that is surprising. Crysis has always been said to be an NV game with the 8800 series crushing the HD3000 series. Reason I know is because I noticed the big difference between my 8800GTS and HD3850 when I made the switch

100% scaling is crazy though, wonder what they changed in their architecture so that crysis runs better on northern island than Fermi. I think there are problems in my case though. I recall seeing benchmarks show something like 40fps or so with 4xAA with my 570 which is quite odd. That's some crazy oc on the core though. Hoping to get 940 or so on mine at stock, but, we'll see

stock core clock is 900MHZ.

i did a lame 10% overclock. in proprtion to stock. 6870's suck at overclocking.

indeed crysis is an NV game. but the 6000 seies have no issue beating the NV 4 and ati 5 series. beside's the 6 series 'bring's 5800 seres performance at a cheaper price point' and doubled the tesselation performance.

6870 uses as much power as a 5850. perhaps even less. they are dead quiet.

Best bang for buck since the 9800gt.

I think the OP's fps are right on. Prior to putting together my watercooling setup, I had two 5830s CF with my i7 930 OCed to 4GHZ. The 5830s performed as well or even better than my OCed 470s SLI. My goal was to build a full WC loop including my gpus; therefore, the reason I got the 470s was that their were no full water blocks for the 5830. As everyones been saying, for some reason, fermi just does not do that well with Crysis.......too bad because I still enjoy playing the game online.
