Should go on Ebuyer try and find all your parts on there. Easier to send items back if faulty and it all should arrive together so your not waiting around for the parts.

For gaming, that CPU is fine. The 6850 is much better than the 5770, so I think it is worth spending a little extra on it. On Monday I ordered parts for a new AMD rig and chose an HD6850, the same motherboard as you are looking at, a Spinpoint F3, and 1600 c9 RAM. For a PSU I chose a 520W modular unit by SeaSonic. The case is an Antec 300.

This.

"Overclocking" you RAM to 1600 is as simple as going into BIOS (usually by pressing DEL or F1 when the computer first starts to boot - there will be a message about what key to press), then picking that speed from a menu. It is not at all complicated, you just need to buy RAM that can run at that speed.

Overclocking the CPU is a little more complicated as there are several variables that can be tweaked. Overclocking RAM is easy - you just use the settings it tells you to on the box.

Well not exactly.

Depending on the processor and the IMC and how strong it is, but in general that works to a point.

Thread Starter

ive just been shown a very in depth look into what to look for when building a computer, and it apears i was wrong with the ram which i thought was good *face palm*
the lower the latencies the better the ram and the higher the clock speeds the better the ram
so will i be able to run 1600mhz ram on my build on the first post? i will post the ram i am looking at in links below, please inform me which are best and which i would are better performance for the price.
the first two links both look the same to me, however it is clear by the price that one is clearly better than the other, why is that better and is the more expensive link worth the performance boost?

With AMD processors the stock ram speed is 1333 MHz and the timings 9-9-9-24-32.

So in essence when using 1600 MHz ram you are overclocking a little bit, so in other words the only processors that see 1600MHz on first boot as far as I'm aware are intel's.
So you will have to set the speed and timings in bios on first boot to get the rated speed.

Now to answer the question at hand, these are the best in speed and timings:

Corsair XMS3 - Memory - 4 GB : 2 x 2 GB - DIMM 240-pin - DDR3 - 1600 MHz / PC3-12800 - CL7 - 1.65 V - unbuffered - non-ECC.

I have a 1090T, specs below, and I can't seem to get this to run stable on any OC setting. I am new to this as well, so I have some understanding but not alot. Any help would be great.
