Sell my 800D for a HAF X?

Thread Starter
Hey guys,

I've had my 800D for sometime because I use to water cool, now I've gone back to air and will be sticking to air. Would it be a good idea to change my case to something that is way more better for air like a HAF X?

I do like the 'sexy' factor of cases so I'm wondering if switching my case is gonna make a decent impact on temps. For example when I had my GTX470's they use to run at 95C in metro with 80% fan speed, if I took off the case side panel temps would drop easily by 5C.

So should I just keep this 800D or sell it for a HAF X?

Thanks xD

That would be the best decision. Or get the SILVERSTONE Fortress Series FT02B.

Where do you live?

The 800d was always designed to be a watercooling case. The HAFx is one of the best aircooling case around. Closely followed by the antec 1200.

But yes, you will notice a drop in temps by changing.

Sad, but true, the 800D sucks at air cooling (no pun intended). The HAF-X is a great choice for air, I like the cooling duct for the gpu(s). Also check out the HAF 932 BE w/ a full window door or the original 932 with the 230mm/120mmx4 fans on the door.

If you're looking for phenomenal air performance look into the newly revised Silverstone cases with the AP181 fans, they're truly amazing. (For both CPU and GPU cooling)

If you're more into the vertical full tower than the HAF-X is also an excellent choice for air cooling.

my 470 dropped 7-9 degrees idle.. I went for a thermaltake armor to the HAF X..

That huge fan on the side kinda helps, even more if u put the 120mm on the side shroud, which i need to do, could probably drop few more degrees

Don't mean to sound rude, but....I think it is sad to go from such a nice case to such a fugly one.
