TBH for the info you have given so far I would forget the idea of a RAID card, and instead run single drives (or RAID1 pairs if you need redundancy) just using the onboard controller. Spread the high I/O VMs across the SSDs and you will get better performance than if you try to run a single array to do it all. Put everything needing little I/O bandwidth on mechanical drives to allow you to spend your budget where it matters more.

What is the budget? Again without more details it's hard to recommend anything for you. The SSD recommendations range from $100 Sandforce drives up to $11,000 WarpDrives...
