Twin PSU

Thread Starter
Hello all,

I am not sure if this is the right place for this.

I am trying to find a way of running 2 PSUs at once. I know of a few different ways to do this but I was hoping to find a way to make it so that once you press the main power switch it will turn on both PSUs. My Idea was to rig up a power cable that is attached to the power on cables of both PSUs and one for a ground cable on each. That way they are technically acting like one cable. So if you were to press the power button on the computer it should in theory turn both PSUs on at once. The only issue I may see is that there may be damage to the Mobo due to the added connection to the other PSU. Anyone think this might work. I am going to try and experiment once I get my hands on a voltmeter to test the connection.

If you don't mind me asking is your wall meter really showing more than 1000w for your sig rig?

I would like to know this too, I am planning to get a second 6970 at some point... anyone know the minimum recommended power for CF 6970s?

I would assume 850w would be more than enough.

2 5870's run easily on my 850w, I didn't even need 750w

And the 6970's run cooler and require less wattage...

Don't always assume the OP needs a particular item for their sig rig...
It could be idk, But I would rather provide him with the info he asked for, instead of dissecting the reasoning behind needing said item.

It's not for the OP, it's for the person who asked what the power draw of 2 6970's is 3 posts down...

Why don't you read through the thread first before posting

850 is more than enough for what I have in my sig rig. The rig I am building is going to require a lot more power. From what I have been calculating It will require around 1400-1500. I had been looking at the silverstone 1500 but it is worth more that two 850s. I am a little cheap an would rather go with the two 850s and have more head room than one expensive 1500 and not much room to grow

That is basically what I was wanting to do except to not use an adapter like that and connect the cable direct from the original 24 pin headers
