I hate it when people do this...

WHAT IS YOUR AVERAGE FPS? How can you say you're getting low FPS when you dont't even tell us in the post how many FPS you're getting in each game?

To OP: do you have V-Sync on in BC2?

yeah that's a quite common mistake. Enabled V-sync should prevent tearing and it will lower your fps to your monitor's refresh rate. Turn it off in-game and set catalyst to "always-off". Then measure again...

If you want to have it on though make sure triple buffering is enabled as it will improve the rendering and avg fps.

Right, what do people have against the OCZ Power Supply? It isn’t some cheapo crappy generic thing. I have the 600 watt version and its fine, I might even say it’s great, it’s quiet and even under max load quite cool to the touch (OC'd x6 and GTX570).

In this review, they pulled 700 Watt from it and it was still cool at 51 degrees and maintained an efficiency over 80%: http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/artic...-Review/1058/8

So I just want to say that the psu isn’t the problem, if it were, it would shut down, and the psu has OCP (over current protection) and other systems that shut the psu down when parameters are breached.

It's not an 80+ certified PSU, it's ripple suppression is not good, the list goes on.

In all honesty, it sounds like the FPS results the OP are normal. Crysis in the 20's - 30's. Conviction, which is very poorly optimized, around the same. And BC2 in the 40-60 range sound normal. He said he gets "drops" in his FPS to 20 in BC2, which is perfectly normal.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Look under awards, i dont see an 80+ cert. Just a value PSU award.

Either way its probably not the PSU, unless its the fact that he's not using the 8 pin.

It seems as if the UK version is 80 plus, how queer?

You are looking at the StealthXstream, he has the StealthXstream II, they are not the same, and the II is 80+ certified.

His psu is fine.

I've used two OCZ 80+ certified psu's for customer builds and they were perfectly acceptable.

Some of you people put way too much stock in PSU. I have never talked to anyone that had a problem with generic junk on gaming systems, and most that I know have had generic last longer then name brand.

His PSU is fine. It's a decent brand and more then powerful enough to power 2 6850 and a Phenom 2, let alone 1.
