I went in the BIOS but I don't think there is a way to change this...

Well I guess that means you didn't change any settings. Do you have any other cards in any other of your PCIe slots; sound cards? network cards? Is your 6850 in your top PCIe slot?

I don't know, I'm leaning toward a faulty PCIe slot but I could be wrong

I have nothing else plugged in my second pci e
I have a network wifi card in a pci slot

The difference between putting your card at 16x rather than 8x is a notice so little you probably won't notice it in gaming.

It was at x2, not x8.

The difference between x16 and x8 is 1~2% but obviously the difference between x16 and x2 will be much greater.

well, I cannot notice any difference in gaming; too bad...
Same fps
It doesn't matter, there is nothing I can do to improve performance so I'll just deal with my computer the way it is right now
