You will need two separate keys if you participate in TC and FAT and have two or more clients going.

The TC hw folds just like usual, your other hw will need another separate key (provided they fold bonus-eligble WUs, which most are these days).

Thread Starter

Hello Valkeriefire,

I see you completed the sign-up sheet for joining the Elite Folders in the Overclock.net Team Competition (TC). thumb.gif

For information regarding the rules of the Team Competition, please read this post.

Here is what you have to do to get started:

Experienced Folders (Click to show)
  1. Isolate a passkey to the single item you're joining the competition with. We track this passkey when collecting your stats, so you cannot use this passkey on any other hardware. If you need a passkey for your other hardware, simply request a new one from Stanford using an email address you have not used to request a passkey with previously. (Passkeys are linked to email addresses by Stanford)
  2. Send me the passkey, and the folding name you use when you fold.
Intermediate Folders (Click to show)
  1. If you're using the v7 client, go into the v7 Configuration Menu. Click on the identity tab, and then remove your passkey from the 2 fields it's listed in. Click the save button.
  2. Return to the Configuration Menu. Click on the slots tab. Double click the slot for the item you will be folding in the Team Competition to open the slot configuration window. Scroll to the bottom and click add Type the word passkey in the first field, and then your TC passkey in the second field. Click ok and save. Important Note: If your other slots need a passkey, use a 2nd passkey for all of them. Follow the same procedure to do so as defined in step 2 with exception to the actual passkey number you use. Do NOT use the passkey you assigned to the item you're folding in TC on any other hardware!
  3. Send me the passkey, and the folding name you use when you fold.
Beginner (Click to show)
  1. Request a passkey from Stanford for the item you'll be joining TC with. When doing so, the donor name is your folding name your stats will show up under. Use the same name as you do on OCN if possible. Important Note: Always use the same folding name when requesting passkeys or your personal folding stats will be split between 2 or more names. The request form is found here: http://fah-web.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/getpasskey.py
  2. Request a 2nd passkey from Stanford using the same donor name, but a 2nd email address for all other items you'll be folding. Stanford links the passkey to the email you use to request it with.
  3. Download the v7 folding client from Stanford: https://fah.stanford.edu/file-releases/public/release/fah-installer/windows-xp-32bit/v7.3/fah-installer_7.3.6_x86.exe
  4. Start the installation of the v7 client. Just use all the default options. When you finish the client will launch a web interface in your default browser. Close that window, and right click the folding icon in your task bar as shown here:
  5.
  6. Click full so the client run full speed. Click Advanced Control.

  7. This launches the folding client itself. In the folding client, click the configure button. Click the identity tab. Fill in your name/folding name (the donor name you used when requesting your passkey), and then input Overclock.nets team # which is 37726. Click save. Important Note: Make sure the 2 passkey fields in this window are blank.

  8. Go back into the Configure menu. Click the slots tab. Double click the slot for the item you will be folding in the Team Competition to open the slot configuration window. Scroll to the bottom and click add.

  9. Type the word passkey in the first field, and then your TC passkey in the second field. Click ok and save. Important Note: If your other slots need a passkey, use a 2nd passkey for all of them. Follow the same procedure to do so as defined in step 8 & 9 with exception to the actual passkey number you use. Do NOT use the passkey you assigned to the item you're folding in TC on any other hardware!

  10. Click ok, save, and you're all done! The passkey will be used on the next work unit you fold.

Let me know if you have any questions. Once you send me your folding name and passkey I will set you up in the competition on a team. I will PM you your team thread, and instructions on how to add your TC Team Name to your sidebar.

For information regarding the rules of the Team Competition, please read this post.

Here is what you have to do to get started: Experienced Folders (Click to show)
Greg he is the AMD 7970 folder on my team. His question was answered. Separate passkey is required when folding in the TC and adding additional hardware for use in the FAT. tongue.gif
