Screws came in (in a huge padded envelope >< seriously? waste), installed the shrouds.
Can't tell you if they will make a difference since it's quite warm here today. 71F outside, so it's around ~23-24C ambient. Usually around 20C ambient.

crazy story josh, glad it had a happy ending

I love this type of thread:

http://www.overclock.net/amd-cpus/94...l#post12436587

What do I need to do to make my 1090T equal to a 980x's processing power?

Sigh... Different companies, different architecture. Apples do not equal oranges. Just pick what works for you, push it as hard as you can and be happy with it. You'll never notice in real world applications anyway

lol people get so crazy/nitpicky about X6 vs i7 but yeah, having used my 1090t and now the 2600k there's really no real world difference for an average user/gamer lol, it's not like you can tell 100 fps vs 110 fps

but for folding..

Oh, set it to 20X300 (6 Ghz) and probably about Vcore of 2.5V....

Of course, even it it boots (doubtful), it'll fry in about 2 seconds...

OR, sell it for about $175 and take that and another $700 or so and buy a 980X...

Or buy a 970 for about $550 and cross your fingers that it overclocks really well!

There you go...OPTIONS!

Well yes for folding there's clearly a difference due to HT and some other architectural features.

I need to win Mega Millions or Powerball tonight so that I can just spend my time buying things from Newegg and building random systems to see what they can do

Lol that's basically what I told that guy in the thread to which I was referring. People need to stop thinking that AMD core = Intel Core. I would like to see him try though because I'm pretty sure the following would occur during testing:

well, clock for clock, i dont think it's THAT far off

32k ppd on a 4.3ghz X6

i havent tried yet, but i would think a 2600k @ 4.3ghz using -smp 6 would only be a bit higher than that
post #1480 of 10523
In what context though? Like I said in the other thread an OC'd X6 at 4.4 is still pretty far off the 980x's stock scores by a good margin(passmark). OC the 980x to the same speed and say goodbye to any comparison.

If we're comparing X6's to Quad-core i7's then no the margin's really not that different.
