Is this in Windows? Multi card setup? I had real rough times getting my F3 rig situated. Took a couple days of trying out all kinds of things. I settled on a workflow of installing one card ... install latest nvidia driver. Reboot get it all happy ... then try installing all the cards, boot it, let it take its hour to get everything happy ... never reboot it until it has been done thinking for at least 10 minutes. Sacrifice a chicken. Reboot. Repeat as needed.
Koven: ah ok cool. We'll see what happens. I'm going to do one of 2 things...
Thing 1) Build a 2600k version of my peen rig, clock it to hell, and let it be my desktop and fold bigadv. Here, I could get, what 50k ppd
? So it's like $500 for cpu+board, which means 100 ppd/$.
Thing 2) *this is kinda crazy* Buy a xeon E5645 hexacore
and an SR-2
. Then when the fiscal impact of that wears off, buy another xeon e5645 for it. This system will be overclocked, too... So e5645s could get 120k ppd. $579 + 2*599=1777 So its ppd/$ is: 67.53. Hmmm, so much for that as my excuse. OK, this helps
... less power draw with SR-2 which means less cost long term paying for the watts.
What do yous guys think?
edit: man this is a good sr-2 thread
