Yes I use EXT3, so it's not that it takes hours for it to write the completed WU to disk like with EXT4?

A clarification, it started to send the finished WU and got to ~40MB then just stopped, and waited for some time before it repeated the same moves. The server, according to Stanfords stats, was up and running fine. And I tried several restart, both the client and a complete system reboot. But it wouldn't send it, then all of a sudden it did get sent out ok, not sure what was going on.

Yep, the file sharing from it doesn't "stick" in Windows. I have to manually access the folder from Explorer (once and again) to get HFM (and the backup program) to see it, but it's folding away nicely. Right now 19% of a 6900, since I haven't got a hugedv this time around, I even did some SMP WU.

Yea, the deadline on the temp is currently my bench/testing WU so it's not live.

Well sounds like you have at least got the stability back. Whats your TPF like now? I think my rig is FINALLY stable again. Got it rocking a 6903 at around 1:01:15 a %. Unfortunately I cant remember now what I was getting at my higher OC with the slower memory.

Damn Desert another 6904?? MONSTER.

The dedi 6870 is solid here. Have not had a single hiccup in a couple weeks. Its just going to keep on chugging along. Though I'm really starting to see how much under-powered I am compared to Prymus or LutZ. Had i not had my problems early i probably would have pulled out 5th but id still be some 45-60k back from the top 3.

Nice last Oct-drop there Felipe, pushed you over 3mil right? And considering the not-quite-100%-performance we did quite well methinks too.

And I've been thinkin' for a bit. Financial wise things didn't look as bleak as I thought a couple of weeks ago and my X6 isn't really cutting it in the competition anymore since it's on the bleeding edge of stability (hence the so-so result of last month) and still only just manages to get the P6904 done in time.

So I though I'd buy myself a 2500K for the team, and using the things I've got here I only need a board and the CPU (and just maybe a PSU, glad I don't need a HDD ). I'd be using the WC parts from the current TC rig so heat won't be a problem, I've got a few high speed/good quality RAM kits to test. And the rig will probably hang out in the nice cold garage, even during scorching summer heat) doing nothing but finding a cure and raking in points once I built it.

So what do you all think? Is this wanted/needed by the team, if so I could order the parts this week. Tho if I do this I'll be having my first Intel experience for quite some time, last Intel I used (and buy) was a P4-660 and that wasn't really anywhere good but maybe they have been releasing some better CPUs since then huh?

Oh, and I got an offer for my 6970 and may be selling (not sure yet) it so that might not be available for folding anymore in a few weeks.

You get a chip that can clock at or above 4.8 and youll be golden i think. Seeing thats about what Ishi is running and he says he has pulled off a 6904 with that setup b4.

Your knocking out my chances of taking over your spot though!!

Though i may be having hell to pay here in a few days with my wife. These dual systems are going to bump my power bill for a third straight month. Im going to have to stop folding something to bring it back down. Currently going through my options for system setups.

I would get a 2500K if it can get 6904 wu's done in time. There are other good benefits to this swap too like lower power use, easy to overclock, if you get a Z68 motherboard you dont need a gpu for the rig and you would be able to upgrade later on to chip with HT or maybe even to IB. If you sell the 6970 along with your board and cpu it should pay for the new system. I say its a good move for you and the team.
