I dont mind the Linux.. and the numbers last night were nice.. about what I see on VM tho.. but as I said before if something goes wrong I am solely relying on you guys and due to time zones its hard..

I think i can install and optimize Ubuntu on my own this time around.. I am learning.. I just dont know whats wrong wit it..

I will give it one more shot. and if the install tomorrow night is giving me a problem I will go VM

Game Plan:
If my dedi rig is still up.. I will let the wu complete than fold some my other..

While thats going install windows and prime for 12+ to make sure its rock solid.

Then tomorrow night reinstall ubuntu and optimize it. Hope it goes smooth, if not.. VM it.

You dont need to apologize James... I by no means was intending on piling on you this morning. Im sorry I came across as a harsh #$%^hole. My super competitive nature kicked in and i went over the top.

Your plan of running your gaming rig for the next 24hrs while resetting the dedi rig sounds good. If you get jammed up I can help too. Being on the left coast I'm up way later than you would be.

Hang in there James, we love to have you on the team, it's really appreciated. Folding on your gaming rig sounds like a good plan, if you can I'd suggest test the dedi for maybe a week of folding (different passkey though) while running for the team on your gaming rig.

All I know is that going from a stock Ubuntu 10.04 install to the version James first tried, I saw a TPF drop of 4% and a PPD boost of 7% of normal SMP WUs on my X6.

James is down right now, but I'm helping him get everything set up right including langouste and kraken, which in the long term should result in nicer PPD thumb.gif

Langouste. puke.gif Just hope it works better for him than for several other people, I wouldn't use it with normal SMP.

Let's do the math now.
We are down 140k.
My 03 drops for 265k.
We are now up 125k.
Ishi drops an 01 for 80k.
We have ~50k of leeway, but it'll be close, that's for sure.
Also, TC goes GMT, so there are only 29 hours left. tongue.gif

If I would have known it was so close, I would have switched to SMP for the remainder of the month.

Im glad the drama is over ladies. I think it would be best if James just fold his gaming rig for a day or two while he starts from scratch on the dedi rig. I can fold on my gaming rig too if needed for 30k+ ppd. Just install windows on the dedicated rig and oc, then switch over to linux. Any of us can SSH or teamviewer to it and get it ready for folding. Guys, just relax and keep the eye on the price. We just need to suck it up for 20+ hours. grouphug.gif

Agreed, It always hung up on me. Never liked it much.

You would have time to just move your 01 work file, start running smp for the last day, then move you 01 file back into the work folder... Sure you may lose a couple thou for the start of next month. But it would probably guarantee us the win... just a suggestion. biggrin.gif
