I just caught up on this thread. Since all of this was discussed in public, I better reply!
I deleted a wu once by accident. It was back in May when I first started. I made a mistake by not complying with the HPCS threats to shut down my 8C clients and 2-3 WU's were killed by HP. Aside from that, I have never deleted a wu intentionally, ever!
Now for the stupid, secret, shoulda asked zodac part:
I decided to make this plan up to get more 6900/6901 wu's. I setup a 2nd rig with a X6 and the same Ubuntu OS/Setup as my TC i7-2 (separate passkey). I then applied a 16 corehack to my i7-2 rig. If I pulled a 6903/6904, I would move it to my X6, kill the corehack on my i7-2, and go back to 8 cores on my i7-2 until my X6 finished the project it was folding. I would then re-apply the 16 corehack once the X6 was free to fold another one.
I pulled 2 6901's in a row, but then I got a 6903. I moved it over to the X6 to finish it. When it finished, I pulled 2 more 6901's. In the meantime, I was freaking out about my X6 being a little slow on 6903. I was trying to OC it, make it better just in case I pulled a 6904. I started testing it out in Windows at 4.0 GHz. I primed for 6 hours on 1792k fft's, and then decided to apply the corehack on that machine. I pulled a 6904 first try. I was 6 mins short on TPF, and to make matters worse, my oc killed the wu at 13% due to unstable oc.
Then I got a PM from juano, and now I know why. csm725, we talked about this plan in IRC a little bit. I was not going to delete any wu's. Where did that come from? I see Donkey saying something to try and clear it up later on. Was donkey the one who said it? His oc is pretty insane btw. 5.1 GHz. I could see dropping a 6900/6901 in the we hours of the morning, and then finishing 2 SMP wu's for that score he got. Anyway.....
I am back to 8 because if I get 6904, I cannot finish it on my X6 before the deadline. The last 2 6901's were on 8 cores though. Back to back even. When the first one showed up, I checked system monitor to make sure it was 8 cores, and it was. It is doing SMP now though.
I created a mess when I did this because I did not think about how other people may try things like this out, and not have the same plan in place. I still screwed up with my plan anyway because my X6 cannot handle 6904 by the deadline. The X6 will get worked on though, and I am pretty sure I can get it to finish them on time, but this secret plan is history.
