Those are some sweet RAMs, not sure how I'd feel about spending that kind of money on memory though (probably good after I've forgot the price) or if SB will be able to take advantage of the faster rated speed. But I'm actually looking at 2400MHz right now, only problem I see is that they also require 1.65V.

Very very few SB 1155 CPUs can hold RAM speeds above 2133MHz, regardless of what the motherboard or RAM manufacturers will tell you. The cheap samsung green ram is getting to 2133MHz at 1.5v pretty reliably, that's what I went with and what I would recommend to others as well.

Just take what I say with a grain of salt.. Im not knocking IB just yet..

Also temps have been a problem for me since day one.. Even on SB.. WIth both computers running and my window closed, ambients by the case were probably 85f. I am almost 100% they were about there since ive tested it in the past.. SO maybe everyone elses will run 10c cooler with about the same set up than mine..

I am also trying to clock it like a SB, with similar settings and voltage (other than vcore) Maybe there suppose to be different? No official word to my knowledge.. However I still couldnt get it stable at 1.32v and I would think it cant go past that by much.. and this was for 4.7... I did see another user get 4.7 stable at 1.3v.. and I am also using my Z68 board.. maybe it matters lol.

Ill try to get my vm running soon to fold on.. Need a new image and I dont have time to set that up till sunday or monday. Maybe it will fold as well or better than my sb at 4.8... if so maybe I will keep it.. If not im returning it (only got 15days to do so..)

Haven:After I updated my bios with the ib i can go to 2800mhz i wonder if the samsung ram can do higher than 2133.. i got 4x4gb sticks.. 2 in each rig and love it!

If I could I'd grab a 3570k to test. I have about 20 C delta in folding, as long as I could get to a good stable clock in Prime95 without blowing up the chip I could fold at another 10C.

That's kinda what I figured. Would be fun to test though.

I started overclocking my 3770k and so far Im at 4.6ghz @ 1.31v with temps in the 65-75 range. Sometimes it spikes to 80 but goes down quickly. This is with a H100 in p/p. Not sure I wil be able to get 4.7ghz without hitting 90c+ running prime.

I just figured out what is the highest vcore that I can handle. Its @ 1.384 spiking to 102c but mostly runs around mid 80's. Now I will find out if it will do 4.7ghz at that vcore but II doubt it. This cpu is not that great from the looks of it. It looks like the temp problems comes from the lack of heat transfer to the heatsink. The air coming out of the rad does not feel hot for the temps that Im seeing. Im really not that worry about the vcore but heat is the biggest issue at hand. Ill keep playing to see i can hit 4.7ghz and if not Ill try to oc the memory past 2133mhz.

61:40 61:43 TPF@6904 and 5G/2133 (<-- see what I did there, Felipe?), though vCore have climbed all the way to 1.485V. frown.gif
Going from 1866 to 2133 dropped TPF about 30sec.

The IB uses less power (than SB), so even if the temperature sensors is telling you the CPU is scorching hot, the amount of heat (note; not temperature) the cooler has to deal with isn't that great.
One of the main problems (in OCing) with IB seems that the heat isn't dissipated quick enough, but where that problem lies is still the question (or if something can be done about it). It could also be the UEFI not reading the sensors correctly due to calibration e.t.c.. This is at least how I understand things sop far.

Is if fine with the odd spikes up to 100C, ie not throttling?

It will not throttle until it hits 105c from what I read so it should be fine for benching or stability testing. Im sure temps will never get this high when gaming or surfing which is what I intend to do with this cpu. The temp software that comes with the Asus board says the cpu is around 20c cooler than what RealTemp says but vcore gets identical readings with cpuz. BTW Im loving your numbers wubsmiley.gif You should have no problem dominating the competition, again biggrin.gif
