Im thinking about buying a cheap, cheap used pc to just run hfm to monitor the 2 rigs and not fold on and maybe use it to browse during fats and ffw so my main rig gets max ppd. The main reason is my main rig monitors the dedi, and if the main rig goes down it takes the dedi with it every now and then (some client or hfm glitch). That way my dedi wont go down if the main rig does. Just one question, will hfm work on xp? Found a few p4 dells for >$30

It does that with mine too. After the server connection ends it just kills FAHClient and goes idle without errors. I don't know whether HFM works in xp nor if that is the solution to this problem since the end of a communication causes it to crash again. This is also why I don't use hfm monitoring anymore. My server [The Sidewinder] hosts HFM, is on 24/7 but still manages to crash the client... I haven't tried v7.2 yet, maybe that is more stable.

I was going to ask if anyone is getting better/worse PPD with 7.2.9 over 7.1.52.

It should not make a difference I think.

Lately mine has done it more often when restablishing the connection, when the main rig boots back up, our when i close down hfm and restart it. I run remote hfm cause im constantly checking my rigs throughout the day so i can catch any problems early. Its also a good record for lost points (along with logs)

The reason i was asking about hfm and xp is because thats what everything on craigslist seem to come with and i only have the builders copy of win 7. Newegg also has some refurbished rigs for under $200 with win 7 and a core 2 duo that i may consider too

Your whole private network gets the same units. Reinstalling the client does not change anything. You should knoe that from just comparing your rigs.

Reinstalling is how i lost the client that has 764x, but it must have been coincidence. I got nervous this morning, woke up and the internet was down but my rig was working on a 14 hr 7032 so i didnt loose anything, and my ip stayed the same when it came back thumb.gif

Considering an IP change to loose the 8055 run but there is always the chance of getting back on the 764x train. I think I would rather have the same PPD with 8055 and have a chance at a different unit every 1.5hrs plus not having only one 764x finish a day for two days before a double hits. I like seeing the 33k+ on a regular basis. I want more but....

As long as the modem or router is powered on, the DRAM will not 'forget' the IP address. If you had released the IP address and this happened it would have been a different story. Really, relax. As long you don't force the DHCP server, nothing will change. Well, the DHCP server might just lease your IP to someone else after a period of time automatically. Also, Stanford seems to change their routing tables every once in a while, that might have ended the 764x units as well. I was on 8055s during that time and suddenly got 70xx units as well without changing my IP for like 2 months.
