Need some help finding a PSU...

Thread Starter
I recently build a new rig but I am not happy with the PSU I chose. I picked up an OCZ Fatality 550w.

What I am not pleased with is with my Antec 902 I cant route the main and 8v cables behind the board. I am forced to run them directly to the connections and my cooler gets in the way of the 8v.

I bought it localy and am cosidering taking it back and picking up one that is fully modular and, more importantly, longer cables if any exist. Also I am thinking that a PSU with more watts will be a little more flexable in the future. I dont plan on running dual GPUs but I dont like the fact that my current supply will prevent that down the road.

Any recomendations on a supply that would possibly have those features??

8v cable? You mean the EPS12V 8-pin cable?

What's your budget?

... Might you be interested in an Antec TP-750 or HCG-750 for a discounted price?

Thanks for the quick reply!!

Yes the 12v, sorry for the confusion.

Budget isnt too much of a concern, dont need an ultra high end PSU, but I dont having a problem paying more for the features that I am looking for.

Also since the PSU I currently have is set up to draw in air from the bottom and vent out the back and the case is set up for the psu to be located on the bottom, I have to turn it upside down. This puts the cables I am having the issues with on the opposite side of the case from where you route them behind the board. So I am losing some length there as well.

Well what will you need to power in the future?

A good 550w will power any single GPU/CPU system. A good 750w will SLI/crossfire pretty much every dual GPU setup.

Also need to know your budget. The current best deal is the Seasonic X-750 for $130. This is the best 750w unit and usually goes for $170+. This deal ends tomorrow.

Budget itsnt too much of a concern, I would say definetly under 175 or so.

I am running a single GPU right now, but would like the flexibility down to road to run dual cards.

So I figure at least 750, I also want to make sure that the cables are long enough to reach my connections with my cable management holes in the antec 902 I have.

I also want to mod the cables, but have never done it.

The seasonic Confessed has linked is an excellent unit and fully modular, this will make the cables easier to mod (I assume you mean sleve them?). Also the 80+ gold Cert. Means it is a very efficient unit and at it's current price is a Frigging steal.

Thats a true beast there, good deal and value. If you have the money, follow this fellow OCN's opinion. You dont have much time left to grab it =P

Just get a new case. Antec cases have very poor cable management options.
