Well things got slow at work today so i had some extra time to work on it again. I welded and trim the front panel in. Built a dual hard drive cage, and a 5 1/4" drive bay, marked and drilled all the motherboard holes in the tray i cut earlier. I mounted them and did a test fit with a broken cd drive.

empty shot after i was done.

front view with old drive.

side view with drive and mobo tray to the side.

Then i took a shot from the back with the cd drive in, and a old psu to see how well the inside parts are going to show up when done.

so far so good. i have to mount the tray, install stand off's, and install my mobo, and mark up the back plate and cut it. i am going to use part of an old case back plate for the io plate holder and pci bracket mounts. i also have to cut and mount my psu to the back plate.

thanks for watching.

i think it will look way better once i get more time on it. work is going to pick up soon so i might have to start working on it on the weekends. at least then i will be able to devote more time to it rather than an hr at lunch. after the welds are clean, and i can plane the edges to make it smooth i think it will look cool.

i finally figured out how to make the one side removable. I am going to weld small tabs in around the inside of the case and drill and tap them. then countersink some 10x24 screws into the outer molding.

Ok another update, finally.. today i did a decent amount of work on it. i drilled the back plate for the motherboard standoff's, the mounted it into the case.

with the test mobo in.

as you can see in the pic's i have also mounted the back, and the i/o shield holder. i used one out of an old case i had in storage. however i would like to make one by hand or on our cnc. i also today have welded all the corners on the outer case and started to clean them.

i still have to cut out the hole for the PSU but that will be easy, an then finish the side cover and mounting for it. i have to wait till my actual stuff is in the case to decide how i am doing the fan system on it. i also have to wait to see about my cable routing.

I hope you have enjoyed so far.
