Serious Inquiry about AMD

Thread Starter
So, with the release of SB, the next major thing we're eagerly awaiting is AMD's offerings. But -and this just a question, I'm not trolling or anything- is it just me or does it seem like their new tech is going to live up to the hype? Take for example, the new 6000 series: because of the drivers, alot of reviewers gave it a "meh." (From what I read anyway) But with the new drivers, it was on par with a 570, sometimes beating a 580. And that's awesome, but when they broke wind of the new series, some numbers were fudged and it just felt like they over promised.

The second example, the newest review on LaptopMag on the HP DM1, ultra-portable laptop running on the new AMD Fusion. (http://www.laptopmag.com/review/lapt...#axzz1AJKefZSp) To skip to the point, the CPU kicked Atom in the butt, but remember the latest Atom and not Oak Trail. And the GPU hit between IGP and NVidia ION.

So all I'm really wondering is, are they going to give us performance that we've already seen (e.g. i7-950 performance -maybe even 980x with Bulldozer- with significantly less heat and higher overclocking headroom) or do you guys think they really have the guts to pull something that will wipe the floor with intel, both architecturally and otherwise?

IMO no-one will be wiping the floor with anyone, Im sure as always there will be reasons to buy either depending on needs, wants, price etc.

'educated' guess lol

Until they actually hit the streets or get to real world testing its all hearsay and speculation.

I don't know if BD is going to outright beat SB straight up or more likely offer impressive performance gains from current AMD offerings, and provide performance near Intels enthusiast class for less coin.

I think the bigger question is does BD help AMD kick the budget performance or (performance/dollar) moniker they seem to have.

*No beef with AMD I like their good performance for a great price stance*

AMD will be fine in the long run most of the processor sales these days seem to be in low cost consumer laptops, netbooks, and tablets. (Where AMDs price point performance equation seems to work quite well)
