No, it isn't.

Litterly impossible no matter how many GPU's u can fit on a board. it cannot be done...

The QPI speed's and ultra high bandwith of the X58 platform prevent's this.

IF The X58 platform has anything of overkill it is bandwith. so much so, most app's and things done with a pc cant even use half of it!
Dude, seriously ... are you high

Here, I just ran Crysis benchmark twice on my sig rig. Once at 2.8GHz, and once at 4.1GHz. I did the EXACT same tests both times, which consisted of 2 loops at the following settings: 1680x1050, DX10, High, 2xAA.

Observe the results.

Aside from the raw average scores, look at the GPU usage ... it's obvious by how low it is even at 4.1GHz that if I could crank my CPU up even further, my score would continue to climb. My guess is that I'd hit 100FPS if my CPU went to 5.0GHz.

And @BP ... this isn't exactly GTAIV at the lowest settings, is it

And look at the FPS over time charts ... the exact same test (2 runs) that took 47 seconds at 4.1GHz took 67 seconds at 2.8GHz.

2.8GHz Result: 58.48FPS

4.1GHz Result: 84.51FPS

FPS Over Time Chart at both clocks (using same two loops through)

So, now ... seriously guys ... if you want to argue that it's hard to get a significant bottleneck with an i7 at 4.2GHz, that's one thing.

But to say you CANNOT be bottlenecked by an i7 PERIOD? You are so far off base it's ridiculous. And these are just a couple of 470's at 700/1740 ... nowhere near the power of a couple of 580's.

u cant bottleneck an i7...

Simple as said...

and crysis is not CPU dependant. your result's are irrelevant to your claim.

EDIT: sure underclocknig an i7 with dual graphics can bottleneck it.

My original Thought is that once u are over 4.0GHZ with an i7, no matter how many graphics card's u use, u cannot bottleck.

THIS IS THE POWER OF I7. freakishly high bandwidth, and unmatched performance when under heavy load of multi graphics card's, this is a result of the platform's bandwidth and speed.

890GX from amd nor any other platform can offer this sort of performance to this level.

2.8 is the i7 930 stock speed right? So how is it underclocked then? This useless diatribe above, following directly after graphs which definitively prove a CPU bottleneck = ridiculous.

/Rant.

*Edit* @ BrettJV - do another run with your i7 @ 4ghz. The claim is that above 4ghz, there is no bottleneck. Let's see if there's a distinct difference. Can you go higher than 4.1?

at low speed's i might add.

My point is a decently overclocked i7 cant be bottlenecked.

bottlenecking become's an inconsequential argument when a CPU is under clocked, or left at a lower speed.

Show me proof where a 4.0+GHZ core i7 is bottlenecked. - lol.. it cant be done!

You can't just change your claim and then say he's wrong. You said that a Core i7 cannot be bottlenecked with no proof to back this up. He said an i7 can be bottlenecked, and gave graphs to back up his claim.

Proof is that 3X GTX 580's wont suffer under a 4.0GHZ i7 or a 4.5GHZ+ i7.

No difference's in this situation.

I have yet to see a core i7 be bottlenecked in these circumstances.

i didnt change my claim, i simply made it more clear and specific to my original intent.
