Need help!

Core Temp, speedfan and OCCT are all saying that i am running at 17C on air cooling in Windows 7. This is idle temperature and with win 7 it throttles cpu and volts when not being used so it is at 1ghz when idling and .99vcore so is it impossible to be idling this low? Someone else says it is impossible unless the temperature of my room was like 60 or so degrees F (its not, its at 80F) He said that i have to calibrate my temperatures.

Ive never heard of anything like that, is there anyone in the aircooling field that is an expert at this or anything that can help me out?

I am running an AMD Athlon II X2 215 overclocked from 2.7ghz to 3.4ghz(will go higher when this temp thing is sorted out.) I have an aftermarket/non stock cpu cooler with 3 120mm case fans that are like nearly if not at full speed all the time. My idle temp is at 17C and load at 27C.

When throttled by win7 when idling it is at 1ghz 1.0vcore
when under full load with p95 or occt it is 3.4ghz at 1.35vcore

Any help is appreciated
Thanks! Customx3

have you turned Cool and Quiet off in your BIOS as I believe this works in the same way as Intel Speed Step by throttling the CPU when you are on idle?
See if you can edit the values in Bios, yah check if Cool n quiet is on. Otherwise you may want to use another program to monitor temp. I know my 1090T says it's at 17-19C when it's at 30C

Aw, C'mon. These software reporters just tell you what the chip sensors are saying. The chip sensors are tiny things that are designed to tell you when your cpu temp is approaching its max. They are reporting distance from max. Intel does not claim external accuracy, just that a number reported as higher than another will in fact represent a warmer temp. As for what that temp is, well, my current cpu has reported temps as low as 14c - I have the screenshots.

It's nothing to be concerned about.

I know that it reports the temp from the chip. But apparently it is impossible to have your cpu temp lower than the temp inside the case/room. So since my room/case whatever is about 30C my temp is at 27c not 17c so says the guy, which actually i am fine with because if it truly actually is 17c then i have a 10 degrees safe zone of that much extra away form tjmax. core temp says mine is 115c tjmax and if im running 356c max load temp then im quite far and in no fear of overheating. the way to get coretemp to say higher is just offset it by 10c

btw i have amd chip not intel, i have screen shot of mine at 16c too so yeah...
