Buying a console and pay MW2 - Page 2

If you really wanted to get a feel for using a gamepad, you could always try out a microsoft xbox 360 controller on your PC. The wired controllers can be plugged directly in since they use a USB connection. There is a wireless verison of the xbox 360 controller that you can get for the PC too, but it is more expensive. In my opinion, first person shooters do not work well with gamepads. Especially if you are on the PC using a gamepad. you will get a feel for what it is like, but you will mostly likely be slower online then people using a mouse & keyboard.

Some games do seem to play better with a gamepad though. Especially the ones that are designed on the consoles and ported over to PC. For example dead space, assins creed, and RE5 are all games that I prefer to play with a xbox 360 controller over mouse and keyboard. A lot of those games are pre-configred to work with the xbox 360 controller too, so you won't have to manually program anything, just plug and play. Plus, the analog triggers and sticks help a ton for racing games.

Most FPS I have played have been on my PC. Since I didn't play my xbox 360 often enough I wasn't able to be competitive. I had a week downtime and played MW2 for a few days and I got better. In fact, I got to higher levels than I did on my PC. And its kind of nice to do the Prestige level that isn't available in the PC.

I've never played an FPS on a console...just wondering, how on god's green earth does one "aim" at anything with a controller?

It takes a lot of eye hand coordination. Give it a little time, or a lot, depending, but you will adapt and overcome the enemy!!! NOW GO! GO! GO!!!! LOL....

If MW2 wasn't so terrible and actually had dedicated servers I rather play that than BC2.

Going from PC to console I thought that not having a dedicated server would be an issue for me but it wasn't. While I will still do most of my gaming on my PC I think I will be playing select FPS on the console. I still prefer to play my sports games on the console. The only downside with the console, as far as playing online, is the price to pay for xbox live. It seems they just bumped it up.

Even for not having dedicated servers, i rarely experience lag and the games are pretty smooth for me 90% of the time. once in awhile the host will change and stuff like that. Unlike BFBC2 and MOH, a crappy game with "dedicated servers" and there are still ping kicks and bullet lag.

I would have to say the same about lag and host changes. In fact, the way it works is pretty nice.
