I can recommend my board, it's been very good. M4A87TD-EVO SATA 3 & USB 3.0 as well as 140W cpu support.

The Evo board will support you quite well, and it has a good reputation for overclocking and stability. The Asrock has the *higher end* chipset, although it lacks cooling on the VRM, thus making for a very poor choice on running your chip. You want a heatsink on the VRM, especially for your 125w chip.

If you want something on the cheap, a couple 5770s will help, although if you're running 2GB of RAM you're going to be choking down the CPU. Also, is your RAM DDR2 or DDR3 (I'm thinking it's the latter due to the current board)? What OS are you running?

I'm on Windows XP 32 bit and yes I've got 2GB DDR2 RAM I am planning to get 4GB DDR3 when I get a new board. Maxxa, thrash appreciate the suggestions I think their both really similar to the evo board i linked on page 1 so I will probably get that.

just get any quality board with an 800 series chipset, because you don't want the old 700 series, my board has the best 700 series chipset you can get, and it is from like mid 2008.

Yep, new board would require new RAM. It's become cheap enough, thankfully. Seems like the Asus board is pretty unanimous tongue.gif

I'm sure you guys are going to get annoyed with all my questions lol but I have no idea what a chipset can do for me? Like how is one better than the other.

The new 800 series chipsets usually come with the new southbridge chip, which supports Sata 6. The 800s also have an IOMMU for the 890GX and FX lines. the 790X will suit you just fine, and has plenty of bandwidth.

Before the board blew up, I was running a 790fx-gd70 with 1090T and it was plenty fast. I went up to an 890fx, and didn't notice a big difference unless using a VM (the IOMMU helps with that).

Here's a page that might help you discern the chipset differences:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_AMD_chipsets

Look at the 700 and 800 series, as those are still being made.
