LG optimus 2x or Motorola Atrix - Page 3

at its heart, both phones are the same.
They both run Tegra 2.
I guess, it all depends on the other features, and from that, theres no way in hell I am getting a Motorola. Last motorola phone I had was a i530 on Nextel, and that phone was rugged, built to last. Motorola smartphones......I am hearing very bad things about them software wise that is making me stray away.

Also I cant believe I didnt mention this before.
There is one phone that will blow both of these out of the water.
A Samsung phone that is based on the Orion cpu chipset. It is way faster then the Hummingbird. Its the same Arm Cortex a9 as the Atrix and Optimus, but the one thing about it that stands out is the GPU which is a Mali 400mp, which is said to be 4-5 times faster then the previous samsung chip, which is the hummingbird. The Tegra 2 which the Optimus and Atrix is based on is only about 10-30% faster then the Hummingbird according to Anandtech so 4-5 times faster and sucking less power then the hummingbird is a feat. The Mali 400 mp is also multicore GPU. Up to 4 cores can be stacked to output more processing power.

Though seeing as how Samsung bought some Tegra 2 cpus, I dont think the Orion is ready yet till probably q2-q3 of 2011

You mean the sluggish MotoBLUR interface and locked bootloaders? That may be so, but Moto's skilled in the hardware department. I could attest to an old RAZR being battered and still works like new.

But I'm sure XDA's devs can cook up something, at least a partial rooting for the new smartphones.

I'm in the same boat, trying to decide b/t the two. But after some deliberation, I'm leaning toward the Atrix.

Network wise, I'd rather have t-mobile since I'm not a big fan of At&t, and the 2gb data cap isn't something I'd want. But the Atrix is a better phone compared to the Optimus 2x and Motorola has always been pretty good about updating software on their devices.

Plus, the dock is just too cool.

All I can say is that I dropped my Droid X three stories and it still runs like the day I got it. I will stick with Moto; however, I probably will not buy any of the new phones and buy a xoom instead.
