I have Q9550 (1333FSB) and ASRock X48 TurboTwins (1600FSB)
and I use Corsair DDR3 1600FSB

I want to force the 1600 FSB on MB

I thought I understood the manual but seems what I tried just didn't work, reguarding the MB Jumper Settings

Motherboard Manual page 27
http://europe.asrock.com/manual/X48TurboTwins.pdf

With way manual read I under impression i should use the Overclock to 1600, short pins 3+4 for both FSB 2 and 3... am I right or is that for slower processors only?

Or do I need to keep the Default Jumper setting and just up the CPU clock speed from 333 to 400 in bios?

your right. stop second guessing yourself. short 3&4 for fsb 2 and 3 and 1&2 for fsb 1

You still might need a voltage up for 1600 through the board since thats its MAX overclocked speed.

See thats why its a problem, I tried the Jumper settings above, computer switches on, you hear hard drives hum away as if its loading, but they no display at all, and keyboard and mouse dont light up so software not loading, but they no warning beep on MB to say somethings wrong, and it just keep purring away as if nothing was wrong...

So i get impression CPU maybe not communicating at all with the MB, unless they something I overlooked, I know if they is prob the MB sounds beep and shuts itself down usually

first try putting the jumpers at 1066 and see if it boots. then go to 1333 and 1600 after. since this technically is your rams overclocked speed it might require your fsb to increase which can make the cpu unstable if you havent upped the voltage. Start with 1066 ram jumpers and work your way up.

But with default pin settings I am already running at 1333FSB so the next step up is 1600 which is my goal.

Which is why I question the way the manual words itself
Quote "When you mount a FSB800 or FSB1066 CPU, and try to overclock to FSB1333 or
FSB1600 (by BIOS setting) you may face the problem,"

I not mounting a FSB800 or FSB1066, I mounting a FSB1333 chip, so its seems to imply i should ignore all jumper setting and use default.

Ofc I new to all this so could be very wrong, hence was hoping for guidance
And thanks for replying btw, its very much apreciated :-D

well first off that isnt your fsb. your fsb is likely in a range of 200.
the ram speed is memory multiplier x fsb = 1066 or whatever

so for example if your at 1600 your fsb by default is 200 so the memory multiplier is 8. The wording your manual and you are using is incorrect. The default pin settings are giving your memory a speed of 1333 by default is how you want to state it. This might help to clarify in your mind whats confusing (or i made it worse lol idk).

So now that you understand that. Put the jumpers to 1600 settings. These jumper settings shouldnt be controlling the ram speeds just allowing you to get to those speeds. I could be wrong on this btw as I have never once worked with a mobo that required jumper placement for ram settings. So now if I am correct the only way your ram is going to get to 1600 is by upping the fsb. This is why its an overclocked setting. So as you start upping your fsb the cpu speed ram speed NB speed are all going to increase. This will require voltage adjustments.

So before you start all that post ss's of cpu-z. I need to see the first page the memory tab and the spd tab.

next time just take screen shots and upload to imageshack.com or tinypic.com and copy n paste the forum code.

What you posted for the ram is hard to read but the validation tab shows enough.

First off go down to just two sticks of ram then put the jumper to 1600 and see if the spd tab changes to 800 as the last frequency. The spd table shows what your ram can run at under your current settings. So like for what you posted if you set it to 9-9-9-26-35 @ 1.5v you should be able to run it at 1370.

also after doing some searching your board should in fact support 1600 if you set the jumper right and set the timings and speed manually in the bios.

well seems to me you either need to read some more in the manual, hope some1 with that exact mobo sees this and can help, or give up.

I dont quite understand why there are jumpers for ram speed but from what I know if you put the jumper on 1600 and it wont post try putting just one stick of ram in slot one and see if it boots. Then add your other sticks one at a time.

also to get to 1600 try upping your voltage a bit on the ram. Might be the ram blocking all booting efforts
