Any time you compare a less than legitimate activity to your own you will end up unhappy. Trust me

I'm on the fence on this one.

both arguments posted by Omega and vhati do have merits.

the DLC isn't really necessary content to fully appreciate DA2 for what it is, so for them to leave it as a separate content for you to get for free when you pre order the game is cool, but at the same time if people don't buy in on the pre order they will have to buy bioware poiints (like 5-10 dollars per package) just to get an hour or two at most of gameplay (like most bioware DLC thses days. good example are DLC for ME2) on top of the DA2 experience.

it's a deliberate cash grab, yes. I don't agree with it. but at the same time these game makers need some sort of compensation for their time for making the content and the voice actors need to be paid for the efforts they put into the game.

$10 dollars for 1-2 hours of extra game play? like going to the theatre and spending $10 to watch a movie. I think thats a strong justification for it.

I am not going to do it. So I am going to miss out on an item/mission because I waited for the reviews.
That is bad.
I can agree with this.
But the item/mission are supplements. Extras for preordering is all.
Nor is the content from the game that they cut out like other people are implying it is. Supplements. Not the beginning, middle, or end of the game. You don't have to have them. This has been a tactic used forever. This only difference here is that they're giving you the entire special edition for free.

It's like this:
You doubt the game so they punish you for it.
You don't doubt the game, and guarantee your purchase, you get extra stuff.

They may have misunderstood in a way, because they really aren't charging for it, but either way it is still BAD.

And may I also point out that the people who will illegally download this game WILL get the pre order content. While the people who paid the full price after waiting for the reviews will not get it.

That is just great, isn't it?

Well people who illegally download the game always get what they want. lol

True... But this is my real point.

I just read a great review about how DA2 is the best game ever.
If I buy this game... I will buy it on steam. It is fast and easy. I will get updates very quick through steam and can install it on all the machines I want easily. It is simply convenient.

But wait a second... I don't get this one mission/item if I buy it?

Well... Maybe I should illegally download this game anyway since the only way to get the full gaming experience at this point would be to do that.
/scenario

They are just hurting themselves.

But it is alright, most of the sales will probably come from consoles since this game looks a little "streamlined" for consoles compared to DA:O.

In that case - STEAM will most likely have an "upgrade to special edition" for an extra $15-20 like they do with Assassin's Creed and Mass Effect 2. You can still get the content, but at full price. The offer currently going on right now is that you can get it for free if you believe in them after that you have to buy the special edition.

I suppose so if you include the piracy factor but in the end, who is getting more guaranteed legit prepurchases?

We dont know the exacts about this DLC. It could be a stand alone story, or it could be very involved with the plot.

Having 0day DLC available for a game is just bad taste. The money and resources should have gone into the core game itself, and had the dlc completed at a later date, or it should be included for everyone to begin with. Not have and have nots. Not on something as large as this, special weapons or armor are fine, they are gimmicks.

We honestly have no idea whether this was cut content or not. I admit that, but having 0day DLC ready is a pretty good warning that it was likely cut content. Just like Shale was, they admitted that it was Cut because "they didnt have it ready when the game went gold" but suprisingly they had it ready at launch and that you could have it downloaded 0day, and people who bought the game used would have to buy that pack to use it. It was EA's attempt at curbing piracy, cut content and provide it as DLC so that they can make more money from 2nd buyers and from original purchasers. It was also the same stunt pulled in ME2. Only now regular users dont get the extra content, special edition users get it. Effectively bumping people down on the list.

DLC has replaced expansion packs, the price and content provided are no longer equal in price.

The only reason that EA isnt doing the same thing with bc2 that activision is doing with blops and their games is because EA isnt the leader yet, they are going to provide better and more content and support their games better until they become the leader and then they will start pulling the stunts you see here. Where battlefield 5 is going to have guns and maps and perks only available to special edition purchasers or they can be purchased from the store for regular users, and likely maps will be purchased individually also.

Signature Edition is just the day one DLC, guys. You also get the OST and 4 extra items (one for each character class). For the same price as the vanilla edition will be at launch I think it's a damn good deal and I feel sorry for the people who miss out.

Though i am disappointed in the way they cut out content and sell it in the form of dlc.

Being a spectre and a grey warden seem fairly similar. Everyone is always going high spectre/gre warden nice to see you, yeah do whatever you want.

i would say their storyline and writing has gone downhill on the recent games compared to some of their older stuff. I think they are afraid people dont have an attention span anymore. I blame EA for that though, They want to sell to the mouth breathers who own consoles.

It's when you preorder the standard edition before January 11th.
All of this is just incentive to preorder the game. Everything is free, unlike what you said.

You get a $20 extra content simply just by preordering the $60 game before the 11th including this. So in other words: You get a $80 special edition of the game for $60.
Bolded statements are conflicting. Italicized one is just ridiculous.

Bold: preordering is not free of cost for the buyer, and not free of benefit for the seller. There is a reason they're offering this content as an incentive, and that is because present cash flows are more valuable than future cash flows. Like, a lot more. So, you pay more, and they collect more value for a preorder.

Italicized: I bet you love those commercials that assign arbitrary prices to a product before "cutting" them.
