How are TalkTalk? (ISP)

Thread Starter
I just had a TalkTalk salesman at my house trying to get me to switch from BT.

All in all it seems pretty good, he said (though i'm not sure about it) there will be a guaranteed 7.9mbps constant download rate, he also said they're using LLU instead of ISDN, they also supply a wireless N router which would be a nice upgrade from the piece of **** homehub i have atm.

So i'm just wondering if anyone's using them or has had experience with them

With BT i'm on about 6-7mbps download

thanks

i have been using talk talk for about a year now, i have used them all, tiscali (before they merged to talk talk) sky, Aol (before they merged) and indeed bt, yes talk talk does use LLU however they are still not in every exchange around the country, before i decided wether to go with them i check on this website http://www.samknows.com/broadband/exchange_search type in your post code and it will tell you what broadband services are available, i.e wether your exchange supports ADSL,LLU and who can provide you such services so for example LLU on my exchange is only available with talk talk and BT, the only reason i chose talk talk was because i took the best package with them which is unlimited downlpad, and yes it really is unlimited unlike other companys, and also i get unlimited phone calls to any landline in the evening and weekends, the broadband speed i receive is better than any other company i have been with, and my speed on my package is anything up to 24mbps, (dependent on your line quality and how far you are from the exchange) they guaranteed me 8mbps and im over that, so in all i have been very happy with talk talk, people have been known to complain about them but i think thats because their exchange does not support LLU so they cannot get the full potential from their broadband, of course cable is the best option in the uk, yet still they do not provide their servives in my area

Edit: also i received a Dlink Wireless N router which in all fairness it not a bad router at all

also this is what exchange checker shows for my area

Best to wait till February or March where they start offering FTTC if it's already available in your area.

Dunno if things have changed with TalkTalk, but in my experience - having to deal with their service through friends who have signed up - their main problem is the routers they hand out. Basically, they are a pile of dung.

My Dad's friend had this issue, so I told him to go buy a decent router. It's been smooth sailing ever since...
