Bottleneck Advice

Hi everyone,
I have no videocard at the moment (just the onboard), and i`ve got to choose between an Sapphire HD4850 with accelero Twin Turbo at 68E, and the Sapphire HD4870 at 90E

HD4850:
- 512MB GDDR3
- 625 Mhz Core Clock
- 1986 MHz Memory Clock
- Accelero Twin Turbo Cooler

HD4870:
- 512MB GDDR5
- 750 Mhz Core Clock
- 3600 Mhz Memory Clock
- Stock cooler.

Now ... my poor old rig. Amd Athlon 4200+ @2.2 Ghz, AsRock 939n68pv-glan, 2GB DRR400 (4sticks of 512MB). I know that my cpu, and memory will bottleneck both graphics cards A LOT, but i don`t know what to buy. I need a piece of advice, and btw i will not change the configuration of my rig because from the summer i`m going to tranzition to notebook. It will be a video card for 4-5 months, and after that i will sell it.

Btw, i`ve got the Rasurbo Silent&Power 450W, which in the past, hold and HD4850 (just for testing). I am optimistic that`s going to be enough for the HD4870.

So... is it worth to buy the 4870. And sorry for the gramatical mistakes, because I`m not a native speaker.

4850. just use the card and let it bottle neck for a few months than play. it wont be a huge ordeal your going to be switching to a laptop so why buy new parts?

In this case you would need a new cpu mobo and ram most likely so it wouldnt be worth it to u.

4850. They'll perform similar with your specs, and the Accelero is very quiet.

To play some games untill the summer. I don`t think that i will loose more than 10E with this buy - use- sell process.

well then try and find a used am2/775 dual core with a cheap board and some cheap ddr2 1066 or even 800 ram. Prob is I dont know that your psu could even handle that tbh.

Again i suggest just getting the gfx card and dealing with the bottleneck till you get your laptop. That being said if you are planning on the laptop to be your gaming comp your in trouble. Gaming+laptop just isnt smart since they parts almost always cant be upgraded.

Not true, a nice ASUS laptop now-adays can play any game on max in 1920*1080.

You would just need to find a laptop with a discrete graphics card such as a 5870m or a 480m.

Though he is right, most parts can't be upgraded.

yea can play any games out now but you know damn well in a year when some game comes out it will be only able to play it on low settings then after that will play games with horrible fps. A gaming laptop is just a bad investment. I know first hand because before I ever built my rig I bought a gaming laptop and was doing a all the time regretting it.

Side note: I am talking a gaming laptop in a normal price range. If you want to drop 2-3k on a laptop then thats different but such an utter bad investment still.
