Frankly OP, your other components aren't terrible and you should REALLY look into getting a new motherboard if you intend to either unlock OR overclock your CPU.

Both together is a recipe for disaster on that board - it only has 4-pin CPU power input (not 8pin like most 140watt quad-core ready boards) and has ZERO cooling features for components.

Running it, even as you are now, with the added voltage is already playing with fire - that might be a literal pun too; motherboards have actually caught fire from over-volting the mosfets, taking out other components with them.

BE VERY CAREFUL, and seriously consider going back to a tri-core without any (or at least a big) overclock.

That is my final piece of advice for now ...
Oh wow didnt realize it didnt have an 8pin for cpu. back off and get a new board for sure. I boards for this chip are cheap.

You are in a highly risky area being where you are now on that board.

Ha ha, our realizations about this situation have been in two-step - almost simultaneously.

I concur.

Funny ckybam3, our Rig's aren't far off each others at all - I bet we get very similar performance though I've no doubt your CPU is running cooler than mine and your GPU will bench faster; in game performance will vary from the same to slightly in your favor.

Wait till I crossfire though, the tables will reverse ... unless of course you tri-fire a 5970 (which would probably be silly on x8/x8 PCIe lanes and an AM3 platform anyways)

How's the HAF932 treating you? I'm looking for a new case, considered the HAF912 (with 2x200mm fans) or the 922, but frankly I like the NZXT Tempest Evo for price/performance, and the NZXT Phantom for style (but not price).

3.4 on a 720 is a good OC, and on a good board you're going to generally max out around 3.5-3.6. ( I used to own one until only a month ago).

You wont be hitting 4.0 with any board, with any cooler, just wont happen for you.

once you cf you beat me for sure. your ram is faster, however I still got some room to overclock I was just satisfied at 3.6. I like low voltage .

As for the haf 932. I will put it this way. I wouldnt give it up for anything other than a corsair obsidian 800d as of right now. If you are in the market for a case the only thing I would say is get a full size case. I originally started building on a tight budget and got a mid size then went to full. I will NEVER go back to anything smaller. The room to work is simply amazing.

My idle temps are 23c not 48c. I'm sure my cpu can handle the temps.

How can I get my comp stable @3.8ghz? I have my volts at 1.5v for my cpu, it idles at 29c. my NB freq at 2400mhz and my cpu freq at 204. But it isn't stable, I can get my system to start up but as soon as I run prime95 or AMD overload it crashes and blue screens.

Once again, I'm new to overclocking. I have it stable @3.4ghz, I ran AMD Overdrive for 6 hours and it didn't crash or slow down.

Here's my CPU-Z on 3.7ghz

Theminatar are you not listening? you unlocked the cores and are at 1.5v your board cannot handle this for 24/7 usage. You are risking burning the board (literally burning).

It might be fine now but you are running a very risky setup. I would help you but 1.5v is max you want to put in that chip and I mean MAX. Especially with your board.

I'm listening, but so far I haven't seen anything bad. I know you guys are telling me not to do it, but it's my stuff. I'll take the risk of doing it. I would just like some help on the way.
