Hi All

Got my cards today... Heres the story:

I did a 3dmark vantage "high" run with my old 4890. And then I put in the new cards and did another run with just one 6850 (xfire disabled in CCC)

Its about 15% better? Is that correct?

However heres the problem. I enabled Xfire and then ran 3dmark but it was all ****ed up. It ran but random lines and flashing colours were spread through the test etc so I aborted...

Any help in this?

Thanks

What driver version are you using, and is the second card seated correctly.

What I would do to see if its a faulty card is test it by itself in the first PCIe slot, as the main card. If it artifacts or crashes, RMA the card. If not, try a different driver set.

Im using the latests drivers from ATI. I downloaded before I installed anything else.

So its a card problem? I was wondering if 3dMark Vantage was too old for Xfire?

Also is there anything I need to do in BIOS or anything to setup XFire? Or is it just enabling it in CCC?

Ok bit of an update. When I ran this before it was earlier on in the day. But I had to go out for dinner so before I left I restarted my computer.

I just re-ran 3dmark vantage now and as far as I can see there was no f ups. I returned a nice score:

113% better than my old 4890
80% better than a single 6850 so Im pretty happy with those scores.

So could a restart really fix it? I downloaded GPUTool... And ran that for about 20 minutes and it returned no artifacts or errors?

Although one things I noticed is some slight wine from the cards when in use... My old 4890 used to wine quite a bit but I thought that was only a 4xxx series problem and had been fixed? (I think someone told me it was called coil wine)

Thanks

Any ideas on the above... Is this what I should expect?

That scaling is right where it should be, sounds like the card is functioning correctly.

As a double check, download Furmark and test with that

To make sure crossfire is on go to the the CCC taskbar icon > right click > then one of the settings there you can choose to enable a crossfire overlay (I don't remember exactly where it is, im not on my rig).

From there run Furmark multi-GPU. In the right top hand corner you should see a red square that says AMD Crossfire, and it should show both of your GPU's under load.

But yes, those numbers sound right.

Awesome sounds good.

I just formatted windows since I dont think it liked the change... Serveral programs still thought I had a 4890 and windows sometimes didnt load properly etc...

Its fine now though.

However Im just wondering... Is there ment to be something in the diagnositcs box in CCC... Mine is blank:

Help... Things are not right somehow...

I reformat and installed Vista... But the computer continues to be grumpy its the only way I can describe it... Slow doing random things like maximizing a browser window, navigating around hard drive etc... Computer has not turned on properly or frozen during start up... Etc...

Could all this be the graphic cards?

Hmm, well did you test each individual card like I recommended a while ago?

And no there should be nothing in the diagnostics section of CCC, so that's good.

Doesn't sounds like the cards to me though. I would stress test them with FurMark.
