I wish people would quit jumping to conclusions. This game might rock. We don't know yet. It's still 10 months from release.

For the record level scaling has nothing to do with difficulty. It's all about immersion and realism.

In Oblivion I broke into the IMPERIAL wharehouse from the start. First problem, how in the hell does someone with lock picking skill of 20 break into the IMPERIAL wharehouse?! Second problem, I'm in the IMPERIAL wharehouse and all thats in there is hourglasses, spoons and cups. Seriously?! You are telling me that all the IMPERIAL wharehouse contains is hourglasses, spoons and cups?!

That's stupid and it's what you get with level scaling.

If you like it fine, but many other ES players despise it with a passion and I am one of them.
That's not a level scaling thing, but was more an effect of how lockpicking worked in comparison to Morrowind (you had to do it yourself instead of virtual dices rolling...) and a bad choice by the developers to decorate the place with hourglasses, spoons and cups. Even if you got in at level 50 it would still be the same crap lying around.

And by the way, Morrowind also had level scaling to some extent. Ever encountered a Golden Saint at a Daedric shrine at level 1? Thought not.

Anyways, if it'll be anything like Fallout 3 handles it, it'll be fine by me.

Morrowind had level scaling in the wild on animals. Even then, most regions went from "animal" to "sick animal" to "diseased animal". Only regions like the Molag Amur, the Grazelands and Red Mountain (obviously) got high level creatures (as well as certain ruins, especially if they're open).

Caves, NPCs and loot weren't subject to much level scaling. You'd just find bigger soulgems and that was it.

I have a feeling we will all like the level scaling in this game a lot better. But as long as the game can be modded it'll still be great.

I just saw Oblivion at Wal Mart and Best Buy and Target today. So apparently it must sell something!

Does level scaling really matter if your a PC Player? I mean seriously. The Mod Community for Skyrim will be absolutely insanely HUGE.

if we can mod it at all. I doubt when building the new engine modding was at the top of the list of things they needed.

Its not like not having mod tools on the PC would really hurt sales. Sure people will cry about it, but they will all still buy it anyway.

Go spend a few days in the TES forums and think about what you just said and how dumb it would be of Bethesda to do that.

Besides, so far, every TES Construction Set Bethesda has provided us isn't just a "modding tool", it's the very tools Bethesda itself uses to create the game. It doesn't cost anything to make it available.

Why would i go to a forum that is basically a bunch of diehards for modding tes games and suggest that the new one not have modding, and expect anything but castration.

This is an entirely new engine not based on Gamebryo. Which means their construction tools also had to be created all new. I doubt that making sure they were mod friendly was at the top of their list, when they went about creating all their new tools and programs to do things.

For all we know it could be something similar to frostbite 2 engine, and it takes days for their computers to bake an entire build, and would take weeks on a regular computer and crash or not run at all.

console sales for bethsoft greatly outnumber the pc sales of their games, so creating tools usable by the public isnt a priority anymore.
