I am simply providing an example for reference. We know entirely nothing about the new engine currently, and i think it is entirely possible that modding will not be supported, with a legitimate reason why it cant be done, like why frostbite 1.5 cant.

I'm not saying i dont want mods, i love them, i mod the hell out of my games. Just presenting the possibility that there wont be any this time around.

Well you should know that people who play consoles and know about the mods are asking for mods for consoles. Why wouldn't they?

Obviously whether they can do that is a complicated matter.

they stated they removed mods from consoles because its much harder to find out what you are downloading, how it works, and what it mods, and if it causes crashes.

They know that console gamers are mouth breathers and could not handle that ability to mod the console versions. They would be all crying and blaming them for all the problems.

You're absolutely insane to even think Bethesda doesn't consider the Modding community for TES V: Skyrim. That community is one of the sole reasons that Oblivion for PC still sells as well as it does today. It is too huge to the franchise to not be recognized and ignored. So you're out of your mind to even think they won't have mod tools for TES V. Bethesda has one of the largest/oldest/most dedicated mod communities for PC Gaming.

Elder Scrolls III - Mod Tools / Construction Kit
Elder Scrolls IV - Mod Tools / Construction Kit
Fallout 3- Mod Tools / Construction Kit
Fallout New Vegas - Mod Tools / Construction Kit

Why would they stop now?
not to mention they've even hired in people who made mods for the Elder Scrolls series as well as helped and updated their mod kits.. not left it in the dust like alot of games have done.
and if for some oblivious reason there isn't a kit I can definitely assure you it will bring a insane amount of people petitioning for it.

For all we know it could be something similar to frostbite 2 engine, and it takes days for their computers to bake an entire build, and would take weeks on a regular computer and crash or not run at all.

console sales for bethsoft greatly outnumber the pc sales of their games, so creating tools usable by the public isnt a priority anymore.
Are you seriously thinking that? I mean you have to be as no one would ever think about a Bethesda RPG game without modding. Look at Fallout as well as it is very moddable. You really think they wouldn't make the game mod friendly? Sure it'll sell more on consoles. But it'll continue to sell on PC's LONG after dieing off on consoles because of the fact it is moddable. That's what happened to Oblivion. That is why its still on the shelves. They would be really really really dumb not to make it a game you couldn't mod.

Think what you will. battlefield had an extremely huge mod community also, the new engine doesnt support it either. New CoD series supporting mods, nope, even though they could.

Crazier things have been done, and i highly doubt that making sure everything they develop is mod friendly is at the top of their list. Making their game comes first, then mods.

You can say all you want about how it wouldnt sell on the PC because it wouldnt have mods, but right now its as much speculation about what would happen as it is me saying that it wont have mod tools. Nothing is confirmed yet. Modding morrowind,oblivion,fallout3,new vegas was not the reason i bought the game, i bought the game for what it was and modding was a nice addition. It wouldnt have stopped me from buying the game, just like 90% of the consumers would still buy the game without the mods.

Whether they release mod tools or not, people would create the tools for it anyway.

I hope this game decides to take advantage of DX11. I have faith that Bethesda will come through for me.

I can't put into words how happy I am that they're ditching the old engine.

Less skills, again? Let me guess, few sequels down the road we can expect them to drop skills altogether. How about just Health, Magic, and Stamina, and all three just increase as you level up. Heck, there is a Bethesda dev reading this thread right now and taking pointers and saying to himself: "Drop skills? Awsome! Great idea!"

...and dragons? I know Elder Scrolls universe is pretty much cookie-cutter clone of anglo-centric Tolkien nonsense (elves, dwarves, good-vs-evil, etc) like almost every other unoriginal RPG out there (almost), but this smells like a pure nosedive into irrelevancy in almost every way except graphics. Face it, everyone here can pretty much guesstimate the storyline from that short trailer and that is exactly the point. This game will be remembered for one thing, graphics. Kind of what Crysis did for FPS genre.

I wish somebody would make a massive gfx mod for Daggerfall. I know there have been attempts in the past to mod the textures and make them HQ and what not, but I never knew what happened to those projects. Daggerfall 2.0?
