This all started with my 2 palit GTX 460 sonics (1GB). 1 of the fans explodes during benchmark testing with Furmark. (I was doing preliminary testing before OCing) I tried to just take a cooler master 120r4 to stock H/S and it sucked. So i started looking online and ,Low and behold, everyone else is having the same problem. Continue researching and find that my card is using a G92 mount spacing(I get really happy B/C I know there are a million options) then i find out that 90% of the air coolers ,that are worth buying, won't fit the card due to double DVI ports...
So... I start looking into water cooling for the cards, but, my I am going to have to buy an entire setup and if I am going to buy a entire setup i should ditch the H70 and do the whole thing. Right? So I start pricing and looking at all options..
eg: trying to keep H70 as a separate setup and just getting enough for VGA

http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0312369
So this is around $250-$300
But i would rather (don't know where to get them but I am sure I will manage)
another $200
2x http://www.ekwaterblocks.com/shop/review/product/list/id/717/category/88/#customer-reviews

And now for my actual question:
why not just buy some thing like this:
http://www.planetnatural.com/site/water-chiller.html
http://www.ecrater.com/p/3231656/aqua-euro-usa-aquarium-nano
Or try to make something like this work
http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_SPM685926101P?sid=IDx20101019x00001a&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=SPM685926101

My mom has this, it has a Peltier cup holder in it ~$70 http://www.waringproducts.com/ret/catalog/product.php?product_id=59&cat_id=5
add the lines, blocks and fittings, ect and it could come out to less than standard water cooling. ( Any one of those options)
I am sorry if this has been asked previously but i could not find anything with this cheap of a cooler. Industrial water chillers and self made (Frankenstein) chillers were the only things i was able to find through my searching.

I took the H/S off it already. Which automatically voided the warranty. I bought a Arctic Extreme air cooler and tried to bend the heat pipe out of the way, but it didn't work so I tried cutting the heat pipes and that didn't work. So now I have done more research about heat pipe theory and found out how the heat pipe design works and am currently trying to seal the pipe with Epoxy ,after adding some water for the phase transitioning. Don't have much faith, though.. typer.gif So i am still looking for another option to cooling the cards..

BTW: When i took off the stock H/S i noticed it was really warped (I have been machining for some time now, so i notice these things) and had a HORRIBLE finish so i flattened and lapped the surface down to 800 grit only (didn't have anything finer) and it knocked off 4c. FYI

well if its been lapped and modded no luck with RMA. In all honesty dude. Either just do a basic water setup or just replace the card. The chiller experiment while awesome it will be a big hassle most likely and wont be feasable for 24/7 running since likely youll get condensation inside your case.

The funniest part about this whole thing is if i could find a fan that would work as well as stock I would be happy.. I play WOW most of the time. i have crysis and a couple others but spend most of my time boxing (not video game) or crafting, among my daily life. BUT i do love a good project and as long as it would be making something I could use 24/7 I would. well my other "thing" i am looking into is
http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electronics/shop/Televisions/Full-HD-3D/VIERA-VT25-Series-Plasma-Full-HD-3D-HDTVs/model.TC-P50VT25_11002_7000000000000005702
for 3D Game play and movies but mainly game play :-)
so the SLI cards are kind-off a necessity.

I just lapped it to see if it would make any difference, which it did,a reletivly large difference. A 4c diff seems pretty good for a 30 min lapping that ended at 800grit.
BTW thanks.

it should in theory drop temps more as you get to 1000 1500 grits because you will shave very very very small areas which take out any tiny grooves making it more flat. After 1500 I believe is more polishing than anything

I have fitted EK waterblocks to my 2 x Palit 460 Sonic Platinum 1GB in SLI so I have two stock cooling setups spare. Only prob there is I live in Australia. Still Eddies' water blocks only took a few days to get here from Slovenia. If you want them.....

Water chillers. I've thought about that. General opinion seems to be no-good for 24/7. I don't know if you've come across these. I've collected them while looking into the idea of using a water chiller for cooling. More often than not cold water is poured on the idea, but it is interesting. You've got TEC types and phase change.

Also, on the large scale, there is a film editing studio that cools all their equipment with an industrial unit that takes up a whole room. I'll try to find it again.
