The virtue of stubbornness.

Thread Starter
Yesterday I flashed, my GPU's BIOS to overclock it. Then when it started failing while folding, I decided to turn my overclock down a bit, well the 260 did not like that one bit and decided to take a digger. Well, I thought I was S.O.L. I borrowed a 8600gt from a friend and tried to save it. After jamming it in and kinking my tubes while at it , I was able to flash the card. Turns out, I had the wrong BIOS . Again, I thought I would just have to buy a new card, but stubborn as I am, I tried again, without the 8600. The driver would crash for about 5 seconds, then recover enough for the screen to display. With patience I was able to boot into safe mode with networking, download the correct BIOS, then boot normally. The driver would crash, recover, crash, recover. When it would recover, I could see what I was doing. This enabled me to flash to the correct bios, and now I am sitting here typing this Happy as a clam!

The moral of this story is MAKE A BACK UP BIOS!!! I am going to be stress testing, and re-overclocking over this weekend. Hopefully it goes better.

persistence more than stubbornness. besides buying a new card aka throwing money at a problem, doesn't teach you anything :-)
