Would like an opinion on some upgrades.

Thread Starter
If this might be in the wrong section, I believe I apologize, I would say I'm a first timer around here, with the exception of sometimes reaching some threads here via Google.

As the title may express, I would believe I'm upgrading the following build's parts while listing the ones I may not be upgrading for the sake of information
Computer Case: Cooler Master 690 II Advanced
Motherboard: Asus M4A77TD PRO
Processor: AMD Phenom II X2 550 @ 3.1GHz (unlocked to AMD Phenom II X4 B50).
XFX Radeon HD 5770 to Sapphire Toxic Radeon HD 5850 2GB GDDR5
750w Energon EPS-750 to 1000W Corsair CMPSU-1000HX
4GB (2x2) DDR3 1600MHZ Kingston HyperX to 8GB (2x4) Corsair Dominator DDR3 1600MHZ

I would believe that I find that my current GPU seems to be the bottleneck, as my processor seems to handle the processes rather well, the CPU Monitor doesn't seem to report any large usage above 40-50% in most of my games.

I believe I feel that a GPU upgrade would be necessary, then I believe I added in the Corsair 1000w PSU to "future proof" it, since I may be thinking of adding another Sapphire Toxic 5850 if I may be interested, aswell as quite a bit of cooling, and just PERHAPS a new CPU, although I don't think I feel dissatisfied with the current CPU's performance. Also, since I may be worried about not having enough connectors on my current PSU, I think that adds up to wanting to change it
Even so, I think 1000w might sound a bit like overkill, but I feel rather uncomfortable going much lower than that due to thinking my supply might be insufficient.

I would believe that the Power Supply would be where I think I'd be most likely to accept suggestions regarding hardware, if you'd like to suggest a new CPU, I'd like you to suggest one that may be able to handle 4-6 Core Phenom II Processors, 2x Sapphire Toxic Radeon HD 5850 2GB, and a whole lot of FAN cooling installed in the case, although I don't think the FANs would take incredibly much off the power supply's sources.

I thought I'd just snuff in the Dominator 1600 while I would be at it, my current ram's timings seem to be of CL9 with the same voltage as the Dominator, and from the looks of it I think it seems viable enough.

Generally I believe I'm simply interested in knowing if this might be compatible or not, if you may have any suggestions as to what you'd consider to be more effective hardware upgrades, please feel free to tell me. I believe that I'd still appreciate it if you'd tell me if what I listed may be compatible, though.

I believe I've checked for compatibility over and over again, and for now I feel certain that it's compatible, but that thought of "What if I fry the Motherboard?" makes me feel like asking this forum, I'm certain that I realize that you people may be doing me a favour by telling me if this might be compatible or not, and I believe that's why I thank you in advance.

Hello and welcome to the forums.
When you get time go to the top of the page , to user cp and fill in your specs. (helps us help you )
I´d say yes that PSU should go first , 1000w is a bit overkill even for xfire 5850 .
What is your PC going to be used for ie; gaming /surfing , or more intensive graphic rendering type of things. How many monitors do you have and what size/resolution are they?
I ask because it may just be a PSU , GPU upgrade needed.

Thank you for your reply, and I believe I've listed the specs now, might not have added incredibly much, but I assume it should be enough to get a rough idea of how things may work in this system.

As for what my PC may currently be used for would be running Crysis at maxed through an ultra high quality config, which should basically give a gret deal of performance, apparently it seems to state that if you may be able to run Crysis at Gamer/High settings, you should be able to run it with that configuration.
As for the GPU Upgrade, I believe this comes from changing my monitor, a while ago I believe I had a Samsung SyncMaster 940bf, whose resolution apparently hung around 1280x1024, 19" if I may recall correctly. It seems like my computer ran fine with that. I believe I simply tend to use single monitors, no Eyefinity here.

Now that I seem to have switched that monitor out with a Samsung SyncMaster BX2450 at 24", which seems to have a resolution of 1920x1080, I believe it seems rather hard to play Crysis at the higher resolutions. Which I think is a shame, mainly because I believe I'd like to take advantage of the high resolution in Crysis, and still run at a framerate I believe I'd consider to be stable. (30-60 FPS, the higher, I would assume the better)

The other games I seem to play would be Team Fortress 2, Just Cause 2, The Last Remnant and Trine, while they don't seem to take as huge an impact as to their performance, it still seems like I may have to disable anti-aliasing to play it at such a resolution. Team Fortress 2 does seem to be doing fine, though.

I would believe I know that I may simply turn down the resolution if I may want to play at a stable framerate, but like I believe I said, I think I'd like to take advantage of my new monitor.
Also, I'd like an answer as to this would run somewhat decently, disregarding budget or going a bit over the recommended amount.

Agrreed , have a look at the HD 6950 , there was a thread explaining how it can be flashed to a 6970.

Thank you for your suggestion, then, I may rethink which PSU I might pick.
As for changing the RAM, may I ask why you think it may be necessary to keep the ram?
I think I'd feel quite comfortable with 8GB RAM, but if you may think it may be unnecessary to add that much, or perhaps that brand, I think I'd like to hear from you.

Aha, I would say I think I recall reading that 6950 had the same features as the 6970, yet locked. I might also look into that, although for now I think my pick may rest on a Sapphire Radeon HD5850, that would be until I may look at some benchmarks.

Since only gaming, not going to see a price/performance increase to make it worth while. Your Hyper-x are good sticks.

If the energon is reliable (which will depend on the OEM manufacturer, there's a way to find that out) you can use that with the 5850 just fine.
If your buying a 550 expecting it to unlock for a cheep quad core you shouldn't get your hopes up and just buy a quad core instead because if it doesn't work trust me you won't be happy.
