Hey, im kind of a newbie to this so i was wondering if you guys could help me out. I have this computer

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport...odTypeId=12454

I know it wasnt a good idea buying a brand pc but im too new to these things to build my own. I know that the processor and RAM is ok, but i was wondering if i could fit a new graphics card in the place of the 5450 that came with the computer and in that case a new psu cus the one i have is only 300W. Please reply if it would be possible or if i should buy a new case. thanks.

the gpu thats listed is a low profile one.

how high is the pci slot at the back?

you would have to change power supply? yes i would recommend u do so.

new case? their are some cheap cases out their with great cooling ( like the Coolermaster Elite series ) and are really cheap :]
which would keep your computer more cool.

which gpu were you looking at? or not sure yet

Expansion Slots:
1 PCI Express x16 slot for graphics card
3 PCI Express x1 slots
1 PCI Express x1 minicard slot
Idk if thats what u were asking for, but if it is litterally how high on the back, its like in the middle of the case, 16-20 cm from the bottom of it i'd say

at the back of your case where your plug in your video card to the screen.
how high is that slot?

their are 2 types of video cards
Low profile
and normal

low profile is half the height of the normal one.... take a picture? be easyest way.

power supply: i recommend the corsair, antec, seasonic, ocz..

how much have you got to spend?

power supply will be around $100(ish) for a 550w psu.
a video card will be about $100 - $150 ( 5770 or 450 Or a 460 )

what screen are you useing?

And dont worry :] every 1s a noob sometime

okay, im using a samsung full hd tv as a monitor, and heres a pic of the back of the computer file:///J:/DCIM/103_PANA/P1030226.JPG idk if u can see it but its like exactly over the fan on the bottom and has another graphics card slot on top i think. I have 400$ to spend, but i want a 200$ graphics card so the rest should be reasonable no need to spend it all. get back at me and inform me if i can just put both the psu and graphics card on this case or if i need a new one.

It's not a low profile card. With a new powerful power supply you can get any card that fits in that case. (Powerful cards are very long)

Well thats a standard PCI slot.

Thats a BTX case so if you wanted to change the case, it wouldnt work, you would need to get an ATX motherboard.

Nope, the motherboard is just upside down. He turns it the other way it it should fit a new case. (Yesterday, i changed a friend's HP PC from a BTX case to a Coolermaster Elite 370, and it worked fine). The motherboard is just a standard Micro ATX.
