Hi baddagger and welcome to Tom's forum.

Windows 7 32 bits, and all 32 bits editions only can use 3.25GB of RAM memory, if you want use the full 8GB you need a 64 bits edition.

Regarding the boot option, reboot your rig and press F12, usually is the universal option to enter in the boot manager and select the device from which you want boot the rig, select your DVD drive and the installation will star immediately, in some point the installation process gives you the option to delete the current OS and install the new one.

The boot option for his motherboard is F8 I believe. If that doesn't work go into the bios and set the boot order making sure your have the CD-ROM set as the first boot device.
Also if the disk is telling you that, then you might be trying to do a full install off of an upgrade disk or a upgrade from an OEM install disk.
